Been forever since I posted and maybe even long since I last took out the truck. How far out is cedro peak from alb?

 

Tijeras exit off of I40.

It is a small area, shared with horsies, hikers, motorbikes and the pedal kind. I'd recommend keeping it to 4, maybe 5 vehicles or splitting into 2 groups if more show up. There aren't many trails for 4x4s, the main one and a couple side ones. It is hard to get lost.

I may go and possibly ride along with somebody. Depends on how I feel. Finding out I may not be over this latest sinus infuction.

 

What's up guys!? Haven't logged on for a few weeks. Damn I wanna go this weekend. My wife is due any day now. Would hate to go up and her go into labor...probably wouldn't be a healthy situation for me. haha

Hey NM guys, I'm down for a week (arrive tomorrow) for the Bataan race. I'll be staying in Las Cruses. Anything you recommend a bunch of canuks check out? I'm already excited for you're awesome weather (so sick of -20 C)

 

welcome kailey jo, im sure the southern guys will chime in with some ideas shortly.

 

In southern NM, the coolest things I can think of are Carlsbad Caverns, and white sands. Make sure to find a locally owned New Mexican restraunt that serves real New Mexican green and red chile, enjoy!

 

have fun with baatan (not sure if you're new to it) pack extra wool socks and be prepared to not walk right for awhile. Thanks for supporting it!

 

Yup. Honestly there isn't much to do las cruces unless you like to go out dancing or can travel to white sands. Carlsbad is still a 3 hour drive from cruces but is well worth it.
Andele's is one of the best New Mexican food places down here in my opinion if you want to check out the food

 

For good food & drink I recommend these places here in Las Cruces.

La Posta Mexican Restaurant

St. Claire Winery & Bistro

There is also a Bataan Memorial here in Las Cruces. Have fun on the march, I have done it twice.

Oh, and you might not be liking our weather if the winds hit 35 mph while your out on the course, lol.

This is my first Bataan, but I've done the Petawawa Ironman. Same marching distance, but add a 2.5 mile portage with the ruck (I could pick that canoe out of a line up now) and a 5 mile solo canoe in there. Of course after you get out of the Canoe you've got 4 miles left to march after your feet have been sitting for 30 minutes.

I've also got a solid number of march and shoots under my belt, as well as a Toronto tough mudder, why the hell did they pick a ski resort?. Basically I'm happy to try one of these types of events in good weather (not below 32 or above 90). I am slightly worried that if I keep volunteering for these they'll take my LAV-25 away and ship me off to the Infantry.
