Hahahha bought my new taco yesterday. I've never been so sad to buy a new truck. I guess I was too attached to my old one. And the new one looks so stumpy compared to my old one :(

Ah that's what I was questioning if it was a home made ds cause of the welds. I've seen them twist and snap from torque so that why I had to ask!

To each their own but I love Belen as I grew up about 20 minutes south of there in a small farming community!

If your coming from Denver I would stay north of Albuquerque, south of that there are some great trails and sights but you could easily spend a day of highway driving to get there.

Here in NM we don't have many unique trails but rather a plethora of forest roads. So you could just pick an area and literally spend days exploring. Areas to consider Chama, Tierra Amarilla, Tres Pierdas, Mora, Taos.

There's some pics I took from a trip to Tres Pierdas recently.http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/south-west/273873-nm-adventure-series-31.html

    cool thanks..

i was leaning for something N of ABQ, but realize that there's a lot of ruins in the southern and western parts...so 6-8hr drive to an area isn't out of the question if it's worth it...

but i was definitely hoping to find something worth while in the rio grande nat monument area...

if it comes down to staying N of ABQ, but no ruins and historical sites versus spending a little more travel time to get to an area that has more to offer, we'll spend the extra 1-2 hours of drive time to get there...

the CDT did spark some interest as it has a "cool factor" to it...same as the El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro...but idk much yet about the ECRTA

we would normally just head into UT and explore a bunch of stuff there that we know of, but we're looking to mix things up a bit...haven't seen much of the NM backcountry yet...

Yeah I know you were kidding! Eh yeah it could of been a little warmer, it usually doesn't get this cold till end of November early December ish. It's been known to be 80ish usually till the first week of December then drop down to the 40s and back up to the 70s. I had a teacher in high school that said " New Mexico is the only state that you can go skiing in the morning and play a round of golf in the afternoon"

There are some cool pueblo ruins at Puye Cliffs and also Bandelier Natl Monument, outside of Bandleier is Jemez Natl Forest which has some cool geographical features and lots of camping access.
