Some preliminary searching has me knowing I have to do more research before making a decision. One write-up I found pointed out that the 2UZ-FE doesn't have the connecting rods of sufficient strength for forced induction. However, I couldn't tell if this was the some amount of boost beyond the TRD S/C.

Really intrigued by the 2016 Tacoma so I'm in no hurry at the moment.

    Hey New Mexico guys!

I flew into Albuquerque yesterday and drove up to taos ski valley. Pretty cool state, lots of nice scenery. Sooo different than jersey lol.

Yea we were predicted to get 24" of snow at home, ended up only being about 6". We changed our flights so we could fly out a day early, otherwise we would've been stuck. 5500 flights were cancelled.

Snowboarding! Taos is awesome. The scenery is so beautiful. Good conditions even though they need more snow. Looks like they are supposed to get something starting Friday. But we leave Saturday so it won't help us any.

Nice work with the frame plating btw!

Gonna run the ICON's for a bit then sell them and get a custom built extended travel version.

I probably should not be asking but, are Icons worth it?

The idea keeps pinging around in my brain. I really should save the money for other purchases. The OMEs are good enough, right?

I looked at getting icons when i was shopping for my lift. i decided on OME due to the fact that my tacoma is my only vehicle. icons are recommended to have a rebuild at around 30-50k miles. then the whole progressive and digressive coils came into play or something like that. meaning I've heard the icons get softer at higher speeds in the open desert where as they are stiffer at slower speeds like city driving. though i may have it backwards so don't quote me on that.

although if you do choose to change out your OME kit to Icon, i would probably run a 700 pound coil to compensate for your plate bumper. other members on here buy the icons and swap king coils on to them

No, you have it right. Digressive open up the faster you hit. Progressive tighten up. There are some options on the Icons on how they are valved. Wheeler's told me to tell them if I wanted them setup for desert racing or for crawling.

I should sock my money away for a rainy day. ;)

your money is your money but i support which ever you choose! i love the ride of my OMEs but have always dreamt of icons. icons just dont fit my needs for my truck right now being that as i said its my only vehicle and i can't afford any downtime for the kit to be rebuilt

I'd probably keep the OMEs for when I had to rebuild 'em. They offer kits and oil now so I think with a nitrogen source and some specialty tools can rebuild them at home.

But, the cost... I'd be looking at resi's front and rear, I think $2-2.5k for the setup. Maybe one day.

There isn't much info on them but have you thought about the new ome remote resi that should be coming out this summer or so?

I love my Icons. I got the extended travel remote resi ones.

Yes they do need to be rebuild and depending on the application do need stiffer and LONGER coils. Getting Icon's through DSM would be the way to go since they will valve them for your application and can/will build in Icon's new adjuster if you want it.

I can't say enough about mine. I bought mine from Wheelers and told them what I had on the truck and they ordered them to my specs (front tube bumper/sliders/rear tube bumper). They are super smooth in the fast stuff and soak up the whoops that I can throw them in but still are very predictable in the rocks.

Cost is high but the company was founded on a high end racing background and their costs never really came down. My buddy actually gave me plans on building a copy of his Nitrogen charger for shocks and will be building one here in the next few months. :spy:

^^^^^^Also true. Been reading great reviews on the OME resi's.
