Took a trip to Southern Utah, Natural Bridges area this past weekend. Hit the road Friday morning, pitched camp in the cold rain Friday late afternoon. All the roads we went on were 2WD, so I had no wheeling to tell tales of. But we saw some great ruins. This little Taco was getting me 23-25 mpg on that trip, and that was loaded; at least an extra 600 pounds of gear and people. Had the wife, the boy and the dog in the truck (tight fit for the boy and dog in the extended cab, but it worked). I was amazed at the economy.

A pic of the odo after returning home. I topped off in Bloomfield, and this is after running around all day today. I was shocked when my calcs were giving me a tad over 25. Whoa.

    DSC00587_zpsxzhfu0uk_13ade73ca02173870e305e6a16892f573f0738fe.jpg

UPDATE: Topped it off this morning with the odo at 235.8. Put in 10.0 gallons. That's some good mileage!

This panorama is 8 feet in length, so it won't do justice in this shrunk size I cropped to make it friendly here. A few of these pans will be printed up and go on my walls at home :) This is Monarch Canyon (Monarch Cave ruins)

The dog took a header off a 20+ foot cliff. We think he thought it was just slick rock and stared to go down it, lost footing, then just leap off. Thankfully there was a pool of water below it. I was about to traverse a tiny outcropping to get to the main ruins in Monarch, which is above a 50+ foot drop into a deep pool at the bottom of that, when I heard the wife yelling at me to find the dog. Went back and he was at the bottom of the canyon running around, unhurt. If it wasn't for that pool of water...yikes! This is him right after.

I don't normally do this but we need some help with trails where I'm from. We have applied for a grant from Bell for a DH style trail and made it to the regional finals. The trail is the Cedar Creek trail in Ruidoso NM. Follow the link and vote please! Thanks for checking it out.

Planning on the morning of the 26th. That way the kids and I can stop a few times so they are not super grumpy. How about you?

Thinking about heading out the same day. But not sure when my buddy is flying down. If he can get a flight that'll be there that morning would be great, but I'd need some place to drop my trailer/truck off to get him from the airport.

Found myself in the middle of a 3-way trade with SGT Taco and Mojavemadman and wound up with some Duratracs. Silas helped out with the labor. NM Toyota owners are awesome people.

It is partly the angle and partly the front springs have settled in a little bit. The parking spot slopes upward towards the bed. Plus the duratracs are almost new and fill up the wheel wells more than the BFG ATs did.
