Forest Road 223 across from the blue house on the Sunspot Highway. Might need four wheel drive to be safe.
Some maps show it going through to 130 it doesn't. Get a forest map of Lincoln National Forest, Smokey Bear and Sacramento Ranger District.
    Then I can explain better.

I've ridden my BMW GS there a couple of times and found nice roads around that area. The paved road to Timberon is beautiful and Sunspot has a nice solar museum that's worth a look. Also has a great overlook toward the west. I also rode the GS from Weed to the road that goes to Timberon on a fairly gentle forest road (sorry, don't have the number). Of course, with any forest road, conditions are dependent on weather and NM's been getting rain lately.

I have an older version of this map: http://www.amazon.com/New-Mexico-Atlas-Gazetteer-Delorme/dp/0899333176

What is GS? And it sounds like weed is a place? If so my wife will demand me take her to Weed.

Yes, Weed, NM is a place. Not much there, though.

I had my second mechanical failure 2 weeks ago (first was the driver's side outer door handle). I was in the Manzanos around 4th of July campground; heard a "ping - clack-thud" sound & stopped. Went to put the e-brake on, and it pulled way out w/ no resistance. Looked under the back and found that the clevis pin, wavy washer & cotter that connect the e-brake cable to the lever by the backing plate on the passenger side had fallen out (it has to fall up, though :idk: ). I bought this truck new in '04, and it has 118K on it now. Not bad, considering how roughly it gets treated.

I'd rather stay away from new truck payments. :D

I'm 57; I'm hoping this truck lasts me the rest of my life. :turtleride:

My truck is old, like me.

I did buy a set of the newer BFG TA KO2 tires; so far so good. They look more aggressive than the original TA's.

I really recommend Metal Supermarkets. They are one of the only shops I have been to that will sell you new metal in literally ANY SIZE you want. Super nice and smart guys. I went to Koenigs a few times and won't go back unless I absolutely have to...

Hey, fellas! I'm going to be in alb this weekend. Checking to see if anyone is interested in a good pair of knee pads? I have a few tommyco gel337. Brand new, these are going for $25 from good ole Amazon. Firm at $20.

Also my OEM rotors and pads are available if anyone needs to replace their brakes. My truck currently has 3Kon the odometer....mostly highway use.

Good to know. Thanks for updating knowledge bank. I used to know Ted Koenig (dated his sister many many years ago). Sorry to hear things have apparently changed since he's gone.

Wanted to see if there was any local interest before throwing these up on the main forum. 05+ Icon 2.0" remote reservoir shocks. These are the original version. No leaks, worked great. Shafts are in perfect condition as they had boots installed (just lose because I cut zip ties to check shafts). The clear coat on the shock bodies is not perfect and could use some love. But there are no mechanical issues and the bodies are aluminum so no corrosion. Asking $200 OBO.
