Anyone have any leads on a decent older 4runner or Toyota pick up?

So why did the guy not get prosecuted on those other charges? Because no one wanted to testify, why is that? Because APD has had some really bad press over the years, why is that? At least partly because of the 30 million dollars in damages the city has paid out because a few officers are abusive criminals themselves. All cops look the same to a lot of people and when a few are bad, it's hard to tell the difference by just looking. Abq has had a problem dealing with the cops that aren't able to do their jobs without alienating the citizenry that they are supposed to protect. The attitude of "protecting our own" has a place but it's also created an atmosphere of "us vs them" between cops and citizens. Without mutual cooperation problems cannot get solved. Abq needs to quickly and publicly eliminate the few bad cops that are creating problems for the good ones.
Cops are taught that "everyone is a criminal" and people think that all cops are out to get them. How can this be anything but a clusterfuck?

I sat on the jury on the Connor Rice trial. He was found innocent because the DA had some really crappy witnesses, really bad press spin on the story (including not even identifying the correct officer, whom I think we may have been able to find partly culpable, and really crappy video evidence). So is it really that we have "bad" APD officers, or the media puts their own spin on the story and puts our LE in harms way by doing so since the populace can't find the facts on their own?

Another thing, when a public authority such as APD tells you to do something, why not do it? In the Connor Rice trial, if the dumb dumb druggie would have just complied with the rightful APD requests his ass wouldn't have got tased. So I have no sympathy for the lawlessness in Albuquerque. You do the dumb crap that they do, and I'm all for APD doing what they have to do to get the job done.

I'm not anti cop. I have some good friends who are cops and ex cops. I also bought my truck from a cop and he straight up lied to me about a couple of things. I know cops are human and humans make mistakes. But completing the training doesn't make a human a good cop. Some humans don't make good cops. Some just want an excuse to kick some ass. Going to medical school doesn't make one a good doctor and being in the union doesn't make you a good plumber. Just sayin' that management needs to weed out the ones who are detracting from the honor of the police force sooner rather than later and everyone would be the better for it.

Yep ^^^ And my 4 year old told me the other day, "Daddy, you know if people would just listen to you, and put their hands up they wouldn't get hurt".

That's a negative...............most of the problem is from the public that doesn't listen. Before the DOJ came in we had some of the most strict policies and procedures in the country. The DOJ is here because of the outcry of the few that bitched about us, the ones that we somehow did wrong, even though they were the ones that didn't listen. During the DOJ's investigation they didn't interview one single Officer. They looked over reports and talked to the "management" about their opinions. Too bad that most of that group haven't taken calls in the field in a long time and are too plagued with political crap to do so.

Also no. What do you think would happen if you went to your boss and told them that their policies sucked and were unsafe? Think you would be around long? Similar to military stuff, you do what your told until it blows up and then tell them it didn't work. Kinda sucks in general but our union isn't exactly running on all cylinders.
