To be fair, Slobra did all the pulling, my bumpers/winch are on order and the snatch strap I got for christmas is too heavy (30,000lb) so I gotta swap it out.

I work on the big stuff and if I can't do it or don't want to mess with it I have a bud at work who's a licensed plumber who won't rape you with cost.

When I was looking at having my rig re-geared several people on another local off-road board (NMVJC) referred me to U-Joints Inc. I contacted them and they seemed very knowledgeable. Their rate for a gear setup on a Toyota 8" rear diff was $250. I ended up going with assembled 3rds from ECGS to make things easier for myself.

I think i took a drive shaft to U-Joints Inc years back to have some work done on it. THey seemed pretty legit and professional. Do you happen to know what they charged for the front diff?
I was looking also looking at the EGCS assembled route as well. I've been doing a little research on installing them...seems pretty straight forward. Mostly just unbolting and remounting stuff. How difficult was it to get your front diff out? I'm guessing a 3rd gen runner is pretty much the same as a 1st gen taco?

I didn't ask about having the front done.

Yeah, 1st gen Taco has the same front end as a 3rd gen 4Runner. As far as the install, it took me 1.5 hours from tires on the pavement to front diff on the ground. Another couple hours to swap the ADD tube/actuator, and another 2 hours to install the new diff. The hard part is getting the front diff back in... I'd recommend having a second set of hands for that part, or a lift. My back and thighs were sore for days after shoving that thing back in there by myself.

Hmm... that doesn't sound too bad. Any idea if there's less swapping of parts to the new diff with a manual hub set up? The front end write ups I've been finding are all for ADD or 2nd gen tacos

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
New Mexico gear and clutch have been good to me. Never with the taco, but they've redid my sons rear end on his jeep. Made an appt, took it in, ready when they said it would be. No bs.
I used to use ujoints inc years ago, last time I used them, I wasn't impressed.

The process would be roughly the same, except you wouldn't have to R&R an actuator from the extension tube.... basically one set of mating surfaces to clean & apply new RTV onto versus two.

Thanks for the info. I'm may be contacting you more when I get to it. Do you have info on your gear install on your t4r build page? I had looked at it a couple years back but hadn't as of late.

Yeah, there's a brief write-up in there... it's in the last 3 or 4 pages.
