Got a lecture today on how superior a Jeep is to an FJ Cruiser. Because, you know... solid front axle and convertible...

I've had fun with jeeps plenty, but dear. Lord, I do love independent front suspension when it comes to almost every last mile I drive. And if I'm honest, I do miss my time in luxury sedans sometimes, since almost all of my miles are highway miles.

All depends on what you want to do.

I tried to point that out with the example of desert racing and the advantages of an IFS. He swore a Jeep was just as good with its 4 link suspension.

You can drag a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

To be fair, I consider part of adventure to be taking inappropriate equipment to out of the way places. Even have a picture of me on my loaded down ducati st3 crossing a "river", so I really shouldn't judge.

Found it! Power ranger suit and everything. :-D

Totally different circumstances. You admit the equipment is sub-optimal. This guy would not. I almost asked him if he was concerned about his penis size. Instead, I got real quiet. Made him nervous enough with the silence that he babbled on some more to fill the empty space.

The I am trying to think of something funny to come back with, but I fear nothing won't end horribly.

It can be funny to go silent and just see what people do with silence, though, ain't it?

Edit: good call on not asking about compensation, though, no way that goes well!

I was thinking to myself, "why the hell is this guy defending himself so much when I haven't said a thing about his jeep?"

What ever happened to "spend your money on damn well whatever you want to spend it on because, you know, it's your damn money"?

Otherwise, he seems like a nice guy. Thought about inviting him out for one of our adventures.

Racing for pinks seems to be the only logical answer here. Since it's a challenge to see which is the ultimate we will need to include some street, rocks and desert racing on this course. Let's do this!!!

Lots of empty space inside the heads of some Jeep owners. On the Miata forum, some young guy was getting all internet macho about how great his Grand Cherokee was compared to a Tacoma; I wondered out loud in the thread why we never, ever saw any Grand Cherokees out on the rocks. He became quite agitated, and all the other Jeep guys came to his defense, like army ants. Still don't see 'em on the rocks, though.

Looking great!!! I can do it this week if you really need to, but will be out of town this weekend. Any time after that is perfect. I am taking my wife and kids to CA on Saturday where they will stay for a month. So I am trying to get in as much family time as possible this week.

i was gonna do 1.75 but the tubing for the bypass tower was just a little too big to fit all in there so i went with 1.5 tube and sleeved it with 1" on top running into the coilbucket mount.
