I'll take that risk but I hope it's the latter. I'm at 171XXX miles so starting to do my 90k services. Just did spark plugs and wires and looking into timing belt and other belts. Not sure if I want to take the project on myself although it will save a bit of mulah

certainly saves some cash and its straight forward if you've got the time. My only issue with doing bigger jobs is that I tend to screw something up because I get impatient and try to cut corners

That road does not do the FJC justice. Try Forest road 378 about 2/10 of a mile on the right past Fenton Lake. About 2/3 of the way up there is a rock in the road that makes stock and open differential vehicles turn around.

    Connects to Forest Road 144.

Silas did his in his driveway, in an afternoon. My understanding is it is straight forward but my truck was a daily driver so didn't want to risk it.

I think the key tools are a pulley holder (some steel stock with a couple bolts threaded through in strategic places). And a tensioner thingy. I had one but included it with the sale of the truck.

There are some very very detailed write ups on here. They even cover making the pulley tool. The other weird tool you need is the tensioner tool. I purchased my kit for my 4runner on Amazon, it was all toyota parts built into a kit and included the tensioner, and it was cheaper than Toyota.

Nice double post. And why do you say that?

Not a BS post but will gladly take some following good info.

Had a massive route change and am unprepared. In Prewitt right now looking for a place to camp for the night. Heading East on 40 to Fort Worth tomorrow.

Any suggestions fairly close to the 40 for a good campsite or even a trail to camp on that won't put me to far out of the way?

There are some campsites in the Sandia mountains (the mountains on the eastern border of ABQ). I have never camped there and maybe someone can speak up. But I have seen many camp sites up there and would imagine it's not too big of a deal. Not really a wheeling place, but some nice mountains to be in for sure!

There may be some sites not too far off 40 in the otero area. Lots and lots of trails for hiking and biking but not too sure about camping. has to be something somewhere.

I'm actually right outside Manzano at Red Canyon. It is perfect for my needs. $7 for the night and back roads into Lubbock in the morning. Just a pain to find places last minute.

Glad you found a place that worked for you. Sorry I couldn't have been more help earlier but glad you found something.

Hey all. Will be moving to Alamogordo soon enough. Any good places to visit, do, and otherwise avoid? And always down to meet some new people.
Maybe we could meetup? I appreciate any suggestions or outdoors activities; namely good hikes, trails, camping/backpacking, climbing.
Oh and quick question, how does buying guns work in NM if you are military?
    Thanks in advance
