Lol they quote my street - Santa Clara. Yup that happened. Left creases in both of our vehicles.

So question (never done this before)

My wife has full coverage on her 2008 Honda Civic. It isn't worth much and it is covered in dents and creases. Even on the pillars and near the glass. Her deductible is $200. If we file a claim through USAA what will happen? Do we take it somewhere to assess the damage? Do we have to pay that $200 if we file or not until we have it fixed? Or (the hope) is that it is so much damage that it totals it. What happens then?

    Thanks all!

Calling your agent and ask is the easiest way to find out the process. From my limited experience you file a claim, they'll have someone assess the damage and from there, work won't start until the $200 deductible is paid. If I remember correctly, if the car is totalled, they'll take the deductible out of the payout on the vehicle.

You’re supposed to leave the vehicle out in the sun for a while first to get the panels really hot. Easy enough these days. Then rub the dry ice over the dented areas. The extreme temperature difference is supposed to pull the dent out. I’ve never tried it myself but watching videos of it looks like it works fairly well.

Also, you should only have to pay your deductible if you get paid out for the damage. They usually just deduct it from the amount they’re going to give you.

Awesome thanks! Will call tomorrow, just wanted to get an initial idea on wtf is going to happen.

I remember a time when we could go to smiths and get a block of dry ice lol looks likes I'm going to have to go to airgas or argyle.

The Albertson's up on Tramway and Academy sells dry ice. Has a big cooler next to the ice freezers marked "Dry Ice".

You sure did, and I moved into Nob Hill just in time

Well I put in a claim for my truck. Hood and top of fenders are trashed and the roof has a few dents (lot less than I was expecting, probably bounced right off). I have a $250 deductible so thought I'd at least get an estimate - maybe turns into money for a new vehicle and I can fix the dents myself

Sorry you're having to deal with that. :(

Man, the smoke was so bad this morning that I could look directly at the (blood red) sun. When I crossed the river, you could see the smoke hanging over the water. My sinuses are going crazy because of the smoke, too. I wish all this rain we've been getting would put out that Jemez fire!

It's not that big of a deal - might work out in the end where I get more money to put towards a new vehicle.

Yeah that sunset last night was the same - super red sun that you could look at. These fires need to stop haha

edit: I take that back - these fires need to be every so often low intensity ones so shit like this doesn't happen

Has anyone dealt with Toyota of Santa Fe? This 4runner caught my eye but seems a bit overpriced. Seems like all their vehicles are priced high. I am pretty interested and it is pretty much exactly what I want but not at that price. Will go test drive it this weekend. Seems like KBB and NADA disagree on the price so not sure if it is fair or not

 I have only dealt with Larry H when I had to get a wheel bearing pressed so try to avoid all at all cost. Trying to avoid the Toyota lots but of course this is where that one is. It just seems like they way overprice things. Might be a good thing? Can talk them down a bit and tell them they are stupid

Overpriced??? That's the BUDDY price... you're getting the homie hook up, dude!

Every time I have ever tried to buy a car from a dealer I get so tired of their games I end up leaving. I guess that's a big part of why I'll never own a new car.

I've got a copy or two I can dig up.

Welcome to TW, and the NM thread.

 right?? I should just walk right in and buy it on the spot - I mean those 2k in discounts that got it to that price! Thanks Buddy!

Yeah seriously, I am not looking forward to purchasing a newer vehicle but am looking forward to having one haha this is the only (newer) 4runner style I like and of course is probably the rarest to come by and most expensive because of it

That is my favorite style in the 5th gens, too. That exact truck in salsa red would be my ideal 5th gen if I was shopping.

Good luck with the process, Josh. I hope you end up with a vehicle you like, and you definitely can't go wrong with a 4Runner.
