Firestone has aligned my truck at least half a dozen times and has never fixed any of the rubbing issues.

Wonder how much of a difference going from 2.9 to 3.5 degrees of caster would make?

FIFY. The new setup looks great, and I'm glad you were happy with the outcome.

You're welcome. I'm always glad to send those guys business. They have always done right by me.

I'm glad to hear they helped you out, too. Usually I go back to the bay with Mark and BS the whole time he's working on my rig. I've been going there so long I've gotten to know him pretty well and we usually catch up on life, family, etc.

Alignment alone will not eliminate rubbing due to larger tires or increased wheel offset.

That small a change in caster won't make much difference. It might gain you 1/4" of clearance at the back of the wheel well. Not sure what tire size you're running, but if you've gone to bigger rubber and you want to eliminate all the rub you'll have to bite the bullet and do some cutting on your rig.

It's going to take a little more work to fully clear 255/85's if you plan on running anything more serious than fire roads. Trimming plastics will get you by for light duty use, but once you start to really stuff those front wheels you'll find that you need to get into the sheet metal and/or body mounts.

Really?? Dang man I see him fairly often mostly just random places around town. I work downtown and I’ve seen him twice in the past month so maybe he works/lives down there.

Im so upset that I barley found this now! I was bron in Abq. lived in Edgewood, then moved to Carlsbad in 2008 and 10 years later joined the Air Force and got stationed in North Dakota where there is literally nothing. No trees, no trials, no hills, nothing! But all is well as I have some green chile with me!

Have seen that one! Have seen basically the same thing on a F150, Silverado, and focus too. Seen the last 3 at and around the VA. Seems they are all older vets with a crazy cool underground club

Question for you guys. So I’m planning on finally installing the URD short shifter tomorrow and I was looking at the transmission (155F) manual and I saw the “oil deflector” and it says it’s not reusable I have no idea what an oil deflector is and is it really not reusable?? If it’s the same as it was in my 3rz, it’s just a thin sheet of metal. I reused mine and just put a really thin layer of red rtv around the edges on both sides of it. I didn’t have any issues with it whatsoever. The shift throw was dramatically improved. It’s definitely a worthwhile mod.

One thing to look for...on the 3rz the transmission is pretty close to the body so that with that spacer installed and the longer bolts, I had to cut a small notch in the body sheet metal to be able to get the front two bolts in.

This may be the same with your 2tr. Ymmv

For sure that’s what I figured it was but seems weird that it wouldn’t be reusable. I thought maybe it was so thin it would just deform when pulling the things apart? Anyway good to know and I’ll keep an eye out for that notch you had to cut did you just use a grinder?

Hey @boostedka where does that deflector go? On top of the spacer plate or does the spacer plate go on top of the deflector??
