Y’all have any recommendations for a place to do my brakes rotors/pads in ABQ? Got the parts, just need someone to install and stop the squeaking...

I need some information from the NM guys, so what is open and what’s still closed.
June 6th, some friends and I plan to go camping in the Gilsa National Forest.

can we get food, supplies, liquor? Or should we bring everything with us?

    thanks for any information

Gila is good to go for dispersed camping but there are fire restrictions in place so no wood fires for the foreseeable future.

grocery stores and all that are open and operating at limited capacity so you’ve gotta stand in line to get in. It’ll probably be like that for a while as well. At the moment liquor stores are closed but will probably reopen after May 15th with limited capacity as well but beer is the % in the grocery store as it is in the liquor store. Is the 3.2 beer in CO still a thing?

You can get fuel, snacks and take out (limited hours for take out) at the Eagle Guest Ranch in Datil, NM at Hwys 60 and 12 on your way into the Gila. I suspect there are things open in Reserve but I haven't been down there recently. I suspect it would be best to bring stuff with you as people in the area do major shopping outside of the county.

Beer is available at Eagle Guest Ranch (a convenience store and gas station).

Tired of finding nice built vehicles from a decent individuals then having them be sold by the time I could get there. Week or two later the vehicles are being flipped for insane asking. Last piece of work sent this photo when asked about the mileage on a 4runner being sold out of Santa Fe. He admitted to flipping the vehicle along with others. He viewed this as perfectly legal. If you know this individual, well it is your decision to be reasonable or be extorted.

Found another Toyota where I was going to help my daughter out and the guy was welling at $2500, now it is being flipped for $5800 on CL. Guess I know which neighbor I will not be helping anymore.

I was debating whether to just remain silent on this but decided to post a note. I see nothing wrong with flipping. These people see an unrealized opportunity and make the decision fast. You seem to also note that these people are selling them for a deal. Perhaps the best plan is to have the cash in an envelope and jump quick. They are doing just that because they see the deal. If it is going for below market price it will be scooped up and fast. That makes sense. If it is a bad deal it will linger. That is how it goes and I recommend you be ready to jump for the next one. They are working fast and perhaps taking more risk by doing so BECAUSE it is a good deal.

While the person in the photo appears to be gloating, I don't think it is appropriate to shame them for recognizing a deal and acting fast. I would be frustrated missing all these opportunities (as you seem), but I would recognize that there are people ready to move and would need to change my strategy if I wanted a deal in this environment. I doubt anyone buying these vehicles is doing it to you out of spite, or intentionally messing with you. I recommend you remove the photo and come up with a better plan.

I agree with you. Flipping a vehicle isn't a legal matter and you see a lot of people do the same with junkyard parts too. Him buying a vehicle to re-sell it is no different then what a car lot does. You just have to be fast with cash in hand because some things will sell within a couple hours of being posted.

Without a doubt the guy showed bad character by wanting to rub your face in it for no reason. Some people are just jerks.

Agreed, there is nothing wrong with flipping if one does a bit of work improving the condition or adding value. Then there is a basis for a return and could include time.

Problem witnessed is when one buys and flips within a few weeks where zero improvements were made. From a legal standpoint, there is unreported income, passing titles, and threats. All communications have been saved and handled accordingly. In depth details of threats would just send this thread down a rabbit hole and would not be productive.

Also agreed that cash talks. However meeting a stranger with large sums of cash on hand, I don't feel is very smart.

Some are jerks and that is just life. If this negatively impacts his business, that is on him. No different than reviewing a business when one receives poor service, This is just targeted.

How do you know he is not reporting the income? How do you know he passed the title?
Do you think American Toyota does anything to a used vehicle before they sell it to you?
If you are uncomfortable with cash transactions sounds like you should go to a dealership, bank, or police station to do them.

I wasn't aware the guy threatened you, I would be pissed off too. The guy sounds like a piece of work so make sure you stay safe.

What kind of vehicle are you looking for? Some of us on the forum are on CL regularly, we could message you if we see anything.

    1. Based upon the conversation, gut check tells me this individual is not exactly on the up and up.
    2. As a kid I helped my father with his start up business to service dealerships fixing up their vehicles prior to being placed on the lot. Depending upon the dealer some do quite, others hide issues and pass them on to the consumer.
    3. Cash is fine, but both parties should have situational awareness in any transaction. Buyer is ultimately accountable in the end of any transaction no matter if dealer or private.

Being emotional does not help the situation, especially when threatened. Safety and keeping ones situational awareness is more important than a prospective ride.

Thank you for offering, My daughter and I have been looking for an older Toyota 4wd. We had a 94 pickup that we were in process of restoring. We replaced the suspension, fixed the engine, replaced rotting tires with STMaxx and 4runner rims, rebuilt the locking hubs, machined a new shift knob along with a bunch of other fixes. We lost the truck March 2019. As a father, I feel that she would take better care of a vehicle if she has put sometime into fixing a few things on it first.

Props to you for having your daughter help work on the vehicle. I'm hoping to get my son to do the same once he is older. Sounds like a sweet little pickup you had and I don't look at trucks much but if I see a good deal I'll send you a message.

Hey guys, my sliders finally arrived but the plate has a small bend. Does anyone have a place where they wouldn’t me hammering this thing out? Otherwise, I’m going to find an empty lot to hammer it flat.

I might be able to run over with the mini sledge and some punches to smooth it out some. Depends how a couple home projects go.
