Took a friend, who’s not a taco person, nor an off roader, off-roading in the Puerco today in my truck. She kept grabbing for the non existing oh-shit handle:rofl:, but had a great time! Roughed up my front bumper, rear bumper and both sliders. It was a good day.

Stopped at the flexy spot to show her how you could get the truck rocking when the back wheel is a foot off the ground.

and used my maxtrax and shovel to rescue some idiot who got stuck in the sand in his Camry at the start of the loop.

@deekyn sounds like a good time, did you explore some more areas?

It’s so nice to have such a good off road training ground so close to town. I’ve really loved exploring and pushing my truck there. Trying to learn to maneuver the truck with minimal armor interaction. Get better at going up and off steps, up steep slopes etc.

Over the last few times I’ve gone out there I’ve done some exploring of extra little side loops. Some easy, some harder.

Trying to map them separately from the main loop we all did, and rating them in my mind how they’d be compared to other 4x4 ratings. Easy medium hard.

One of my favorites is riding the narrow ridge above snoopy rock, rather than going way around from moon rocks, like we did (lime green route⬇️), ride a really narrow, very tippy road that looks directly down on the snoopy rock areas. Cool views and nervy, but not hard.

Added a few loops in the playground area as you guys called it (or dos hermanos on the map, I think named for those two steep ass obstacles we saw the Jeep’s failing on)

I have been up this obstacle many times years ago with some of my previously owned crawlers. The picture does it no justice.

Awesome we'll have to get out there again sooner than later and you can show us some of the areas you found. In that area near snoopy there is the "baby lions back," I think I've mentioned it before, but its a cool climb up a narrow spine to larger open area. I'd have a hard time getting up since I'm open but you'd have no problems. I have that route highlighted in orange.

View from the top looking south toward snoopy, not the best picture.

    Where in NM are you?

I agree. Pictures never do. Always makes hills seem flat and rocks smaller.

I tried that same hill with my friend yesterday. And couldn’t quite make it up first go, it was dug out a little at the bottom. I didn’t give it a second go and just went down it instead

Great picture. I will meet up with you all. I have not been out there in 15 years and I am building my tacoma with an overland feel and less rocks.
