I believe that the road is closed now because of erosion and of ownership.

Edit - I looked at the link and the road is closed to vehicles.

On another note are people interested in getting out next weekend? Maybe hit the mesa area by La Bajada, maybe Gordy's Hill, or Puerco again?

Mother-in-law is in town from Wisconsin and we are taking her to northern Arizona/ southern Utah next weekend. Monument valley, valley of the gods, some ruins and petroglyphs etc.

It will be so so much fun

Little bit of this and that
Focus on the scenery and it'll be alright. Maybe a drive up Moki Dugway will "calm" her nerves!

didn’t see that in the link, where does it say that?

If I remember correctly you ride next to the Pueblo land but the main trail never crosses into it. They are really good at marking it in that area, the fence you pass next to had a sign about every fifty feet reminding that trespassing is not allowed. I wouldn’t have proceeded if any part was indigenous land, out of respect.

but down to check out Caja del Rio area since I’ve never been

says “Vehicles are not allowed off the existing dirt road.” So we should be fine as long as we stay on trail

I wouldn’t be surprised if things are different now because of Covid. Meaning entry is no longer allowed. Lot of the reservations clamped down hard on outside entry

Very true. I had thought it wasn’t tribal land but according to googs the starting section of the trail in purple is Tribal

LBJ Trail is half SR and half Tribal, the part you have circled can be traveled but is fenced off I want to say half way up or so there is a spot to turn around though outside of that there isn't a way to the top. I only know because I tried to obtain a key to get this past week but its straight fence no gate. Buckman is accessible as well and is always a good ride. There is Waldo canyon road as well with a couple roads that stray off every now and then.

If we wait till may then I’ll have full bumpers, skids, and hopefully 35’s. Estimated completion on my front bumper from C4 is apr22 and my buddy and I should be done with our rear bumper by then too

I’d be interested in a Moab trip if people are cool with a little winch action from time to time, damn open diff haha.

I agree with @deekyn. Was driving it at 45-50 the other day. Let the kings do their magic, aired down to 16psi, it’s all smooth from there.

Went out to Puerco for a couple hours today for science!! Or to test the flex of my new rear shock relocate. And see how she rides with the heavy duty Deaver u402 stage 3 leaf springs.

She’s pretty bouncy without all the weight... but...

    That bitch flexy!

Turns out when she’s flexed this much... the frame is so twisted it’s actually hard to open and close the door, gets hung up on the access cab door.

Plus got her ass in the air a little bit.

And scuffed up the drive shaft a smidge.

Then managed to break off a valve stem, and had to do a trail tire swap. Good times!

holy shit! I wonder if a DC would twist enough for door closing issues since it has a B-pillar and associated structure.

either way, maybe it’s time to box in that frame!
