I haven't made it out there yet. I keep running into pueblos to the North between Los Alamos and that part of the National Forest and always heeded the warnings. I think I have hit every trail between Rendija Canyon and Santa Clara by now though. Nothing is nearly as tough as that video in the part of the National Forest I've been in.

I found the entrance to the ride on Google Maps, it looks like you can get there by taking 456 from North of Espanola. It's marked as 31 on the map above, but Gaia and Google have it as 456 until you get pretty deep in there. You could take 144 back out to do a loop back to Espanola too.

I'm on 33s with winch and armor but I'm in a DCLB, so that would be a tough but fun ride. I'm in, when we doing this?

Some pics from Santa Fe National Forest on the other side of Santa Clara. It connects up to where that video is from, but you have to drive through the Pueblo land...

I think this one may have been further south, don't remember.

Forest road 144 across form mile marker 33 on 126 is a good trip in a mild lifted TRD offroad. Goes to Espanola on a friendlier drive.

Did anyone else get hail yesterday? I'm in the SW corner of RR, and it was crazy up here, hailstones up to 1 1/2" - 2" across.
My house wasn't damaged, but my truck is parked outside on the driveway (2 cars in the garage), and it got hail dimples on the roof and hood. Those don't bother me much, but the hail also took out my driver's side running light beside the headlight. My locust tree in front lost about 25% of its foliage.
It was the most intense hailstorm I've ever experienced in person. :crapstorm:

Holy cow that’s crazy, I was at a buddy’s house yesterday and didn’t get a drop but @TacoIII got some good rain at his place.

Yeah, it was wild. I was about to go run some errands up here in my Saabaru when it started. I'm really glad that I didn't go; the hail would have savaged the car further.
The loud bangs on the roof of my house were alarming. The precipitation was welcomed, though, as a lot of the recent rains have passed my place by. :tumbleweed:

I'm over by the armory and the only rain I'm aware of was during the night. I don't think it was hail, but it did sound like it was coming down pretty good.

It may have been very localized. The hail here started around 2:45 - 3pm and came down for over an hour, varying in intensity. The rain came first, and continued after the hail tapered off. The rain was coming down/across really heavily, too, more water per minute than I've seen here in the 3 1/2 years I've lived here. My house is north of Southern, just east of Rainbow. I'm glad that I live on a paved street, otherwise it would be :mudding:.

41BEF20D-7E3C-432A-8396-272AB3EBCDDE.jpg Headed to Taos and Red River for a few days next month. Can you point me to any good sources for trail maps? Looking at Greenie Mountain north of Red River and anything south of there around Taos. Thanks in advance.

There are a few trails in the Red River area toward the East end of town.

Forest Map of Red River: https://www.fs.fed.us/r3/gis/mvum/Carson/CarsonQuesta.pdf
    - Goose Lake (FR 486): It's pretty popular with the SxS crowed and can be busy the drive up isn't difficult but its a but bumpy. The trail ends at Goose Lake which is a super pretty high altitude lake. The biggest obstacle is at the very beginning which is a water crossing and depending on the water depth it may be impassable.

    - Greenie Peak (FR 597): This is also a popular route, but its more of a gravel road to the peak, it's a pretty drive but nothing technical. If I remember correctly there is a route "Greenie East," I think its FR 54H which is a bit more technical but nothing a stock truck couldn't get through.

Forest Map south of Taos: https://www.fs.fed.us/r3/gis/mvum/Carson/CarsonCaminoReal.pdf
I can't really think of anything near Taos but there is a route (FR 76) from Sipapu to Angel Fire. I haven't run the route all the way through but from what I understand it's a nice drive.

If you're looking for some pavement the the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway is a really nice drive and worth the day trip.
    https://www.newmexico.org/places-to...k-_uoVpTpAT12VNxASV62xp6esthuvzxoCKNMQAvD_BwE

Those are really all of the areas I can think of, hope you enjoy your trip.

I heard the south end of 400 is nasty?
Is that true? The forest service trails guy I know was telling me you’d never want to do it in a truck and i believed him
