I agree with Yotabeast. It doesn't hurt to go in to the dealer and ask. Worst thing they can do is decline to even look at it. Maybe you'll at least get a free diagnosis. Who knows, they may even fix it. Although I doubt it.

Honestly, Dom, I watched you do it. You only smoked it for about 5 seconds. I don't see how you could do any more than just glaze the surface that fast. It would really surprise me if you really damaged anything very bad. I admire your ability to let it sit. If it was mine, I'd probably still be driving it.

Thats what i was thinking... some of those dudes are pretty cool... its toyota's money, afterall, (which, recently ain't worth that much), but the guy gets to keep his techs busy, bring money to the dealer, etc etc, I don't see why they are usually such assholes. Its always worth a try.

    what happened?

Double post -- Ordered my gunmetal grey FJ rims, gonna spray all my Avid stuff gunmetal this next week, after I fix my stupid gay bike, Next week when my wheels come in, I'll be mounting on duratechs. Wheew!

Next, satoshi, then maybe billy's? Or should I go OME for something a bit more comprehensive?

Umm for those of you that don't know as stated in many of your posts I am a man whore for the local university. I didn't want to get a normal job so I contacted an ad and well, sometimes I get the real lookers, but often its those:anonymous: its all good though. I'll let Dom into the money bag he just has to promise to try and recover me if I get stuck again. I second the idea to take it in, because its not what it looks like, ITS WHAT YOU CAN PROVE. Just because its lifted, regeared, oversized tires and chopped doesn't mean all of that could burn a clutch. I understand why he doesn't want to drive it, but if its not over-reving or slipping then it should be fine...just a little worn. This is the perfect time to do it due to all the recalls they are going through.

Have fun with all of that painting. I dig the FJ rims but I'm too cheap to replace rims that work just fine. I love my Duratracs! They look sick and give you the best of both MT and AT worlds.

As for the suspension, how hard do you plan to wheel? While the expensive extra reservoir stuff wins serious coolness points, it's totally unnecessary unless you're planning long, high speed desert runs. The adjustable coil overs are also sweet but honestly, once it's set where you want it, you'll never adjust it again. Not to mention, every time you do adjust it, you need to go get a $60 alignment. People love Billys alone but I'd recommend going with a coil strut combo like 5100's and Eibachs or the OME set up. I think you get a much nicer suspension for not much more money. As you probably know, most people say to stay away from the big spacers.

SHHH! I tried hard to talk myself into the FJ wheels, youre making me feel bad! I paid 560 shipped fr the wheels. I figured I can sell my stock ones, with tire for about 300 bucks -- so 200 bucks for new wheels aint bad.

As for the wheelin' my truck is for no a daily driver, so I don't need to get too crazy, for obvious reasons, (dom)... .. I've decided I'm going to go super posh and run kincoil 2.0's.... no. I'm poor. Probably billies with coils and some decent UCAs. I would like to get the OME setup, because it has everything you need, and I'm still uncertain about stuff, (like diff drop, etc etc) for the rest of the lift kit. I do mostly mud play and a little crawling and sand stuff here and there. MAYBE IF I GOT INVITED UP NORTH TO A FRIGGIN MEET, I'D DO MORE.

so, we'll see. I still need to do some research about it. probably lift it in the summer.

Don't feel bad. I love the look of FJ rims. I'm just a cheap ass. I won't spend a penny unless it improves the performance of my truck. Beauty in function, if you will. Don't get me wrong though, I sit around and drool over good looking stuff. The whole trip I was checking out Alex's rims like they were a hot, naked ass. I just wouldn't buy them.

Selling your old stuff is great. It totally justifies the purchase. I planned to sell my old stock tires myself but Discount Tire offered me $40 each for them, so I took it.

Nobody that knows there ass from a hole in the ground would ever knock you for going with the OME set up. I have the diff drop in front and 2 degree shims in back. A lot of people say they're unnecessary and maybe they are but they're not going to hurt anything and I consider it cheap insurance. I've got maybe $50 tied up in that stuff. If the slight angle relief gives me an extra 10,000 miles out of those joints, I win.

CONSIDER THE INVITATION FORMAL. Come on up. I was just out today. I took some sick pictures with my Blackberry but I can't get them into my gallery for some format reason. Any tips on how to fix that?

I'd love to have the whole gang up here. I just worry nobody would show. Right here in Farmington Chokecherry Canyon is insane. A web of trails and sandstone for miles and miles. If people are interested in the trails I've mentioned up in the Southern Colorado area, I'd be down for that too. They write write books about the places I wheel and you guys live too close to miss out. I'll probably put something together in the early June range when the snow is all gone and everybody's out of school. If we do the Silverton/Telluride passes or the Alpine Loop as an overnight, or two, camping trip, we'd be best to wait until July.

Sorry to double post. I think I got those pics I took today with my phone working. Bear with me, I'm old and just slightly missed the techno whiz generation. They're all in the same spot, just different angles. 10 minutes from my house.:D

I appreciate it... thats alot more than I can say for the albq peeps, who only invite me up there when they need new hoods......:eek::eek: BTW. Chile challenge today foo's -- those plans bombed... I totally forgot it was the weekend until my neighbor (who is pitiful enough to own a jeep) called me about going.

Sometimes, instead of messing with the blackberry photos, I'll just email them to myself from the phone and save/post them from the PC. Its funny, you talk about being old, and techoshunted, but you're posting name is TRDboy --- wtf, and old man boy? Even thinking about that makes me feel like I should start watching america's most wanted...

Yes, my login name sucks ass. I've even considered pm'ing a moderator to change it. Don't know what I was thinking, or not thinking. Perhaps I was battling a bout of artist's block.

I'm 35. Not old, but certainly not a boy either. 35 misses the "My primary language is binary code and I was born with a PSP in my hands" generation by a good 5-10 years.

America's Most Wanted is for dudes that got sloppy and are days away from landing in prison. I was way too stealth for that nonsense.:spy: No worries though, the doctors say I'm still safe around women, children, and the whatnot.

and you can change yours to Tacoridinghighonjackstands :)

Glad to hear she's recovering. I'm certainly no expert but I can't see how regular use would make it worse. If anything, I'd guess regular use would wear off the glaze and bring it closer to normal. You definitely took some long term mileage life off it though.
