    the 650L is a good bike. its really tall too just so you know (I think I remember you being like 5'11" or so so it will be on the tall side for you but not horrible). Those air cooled hondas are indestructible and the only problem I know of on the 650L is the countershaft wearing out because there is no cush drive in the rear hub (the sprocket is directly atached to the hub with bolts unlike my DR650 which has the sprocket isolated with rubber). if that shaft gets messed up you have to completely tear down the motor to replace it. As long as you keep the splines greased every 300 miles or so you'll be fine.

    As for the valves, all there is to it is loosening a locknut and tightening or loosening the little bolt on the rocker. use a feeler gauge to get the right clearance. It takes like 10 minutes. Air cooled bikes are generally more reliable because there's no water pump to worry about, but the hondas do tend to run hot compared to the DR because the DR has an oil cooler on it stock. its not a big deal though.

    If we ever get a chance I'll let you try out my bike, maybe over winter break or something lol.
