This isn't very good encouragement. ;). Now you got me thinking about taking it to the dealership for two lousy bolts with bad placement.

I got around 120k on my truck with the oem clutch and was just wondering if there were any signs that your clutch was going other than slipping out of gear. I'm sure my clutch will last awhile longer but just want to know what to look out for.

That has nothing to do with the clutch, that is internal transmission stuff usually (really bad)

When the clutch is going bad it will start slipping, usually in 5th gear under heavy load. To test, on the freeway in 5th gear, floor it. If the RPM's go up a lot without any acceleration, the clutch is done. If it just bogs (because these things have no power:D) then the clutch is fine. It would be pretty hard to kill a clutch in 120k.

Yeah man, my clutch is still good and it should last at least another 40 or 60k. I was just wondering what to look for when the time comes. But, now I know about the 5th gear test so thanks :D.

    I killed mine by 110k. :D

and, yeah, it doesn't slip out of gear. It just slips. As pointed out, get the drivetrain under load and push it hard. If you get a drop in accel but an increase in RPMs, it might be time.

Ha! Stalled out the truck this morning pulling into traffic. Still adjusting to the grab point.

Dropped by the garage to have them check on the starter. Started up 10 out of 10 with no problems. Get to work, park the truck, shut down the engine and try cranking it only to be met with some nice starter grind. I'm dropping by NAPA on the way home and pick one up.

The nice thing, acclerating is so much snappier and pedal pressure is less than the stock one. Once I get used to the pedal feel going to be having fun burning out that clutch again.

Raymondo, I'll bring some celebratory spirits for the Sep trail ride. ;)
