Thanks for all the information about stereo installs. I'm thinking of going the Crutchfield route. I've never done a radio install before but can follow instructions and there is plenty of good info here. Thanks guys!

White Toy Taco (Gian) came over and helped me get the front installed:

    IMG_0314_1c0ec915d18f0c3244789affc597be1503d07b64.jpg

Still have work to do but the heavy lifting is over with. Need to get the turn signals hooked up and get some OME 882s installed to get the nose back up.

The rear bumper is going to be another day. Did not come predrilled for license plate holes so have to figure out how to get that done. 3/16" steel is good times.

Gian was a big help. I'd still be out in the garage cussing at it if he wasn't there today.

I have no idea how the truck will handle with the added weight of a winch. Definitely feel a difference already.

Can anyone recommend a shop that can install new coil springs? Don't feel like dealing with hand cranking the struts and the strong possibility of insta-death.

what!? dude New Mexico is awesome! yea, it might not have the mountains like colorado or tree like the east coast or northwest but where else can you go hiking and see a big pine tree growing next to a cactus? also NM has cool culture, cool landscapes, beautiful sunsets, awesome food and much more

Well yeah New Mexico is pretty alright. Sunsets are awesome, big sky, and had a wide range of climates but there is not much to do that doesn't cost money especially my age. A beach would be nice to have, when bored just go sit by the ocean. Can't really go sit in the desert and have a good time haha

Also I saw some quotes referring to installing radios. I took my old car to audio expressed and they fucked it up and charge a lot of money. Is it pretty simple in an 00?

thats true, beaches are the tits. but deserts are cool especially if you have a long traveled truck

very simple. the part that took the longest was splicing all the wires together

    Here's the Crutchfield install kit:

    http://www.crutchfield.com/app/popups/InstallationToolbox.aspx?g=300&type=R

I've pulled my 1st Gen dash apart multiple times. Can't see the 2nd Gen being any harder.

I had AudioExpress do an amp install in my Jeep XJ when I was living in Tucson. Wasn't too thrilled and ended up ripping it all out and redoing it. I am a bit more OCD than most people though.

Looks like I'm turning into a lawyer. Reading up on motor vehicle law to make sure my truck is legal after the bumper install. So far, the rear license plate has to be securely fastened and lighted and the front turn signals have to be visible in daylight at 100 ft. I'm thinking of getting some license plate magnet mounts until I can get the screw holes drilled.

    See, more OCD. ;-)
