Great looking truck! MT or AT? How do you like the Wescott? Considering pairing it with my eibach spring upgrade. Also, can I have your garage? Would make a fantastically clean woodshop.

I grew up in LA and did not know anything else until I left that bubble. It was a good thing too...lots of family matters going on so I felt like leaving it behind was beneficial. Visiting allows me reflect and see what I left behind...the neighborhood...not my family. Although, the barrio seems to have taken a hold of my sister and her kids. But that's another story.

At first, the skewp did require some getting use to. Now, it's a hood that has an aesthetically aggressive stance thanks to the OEM LEDs & TRD Skid plate. I friggin' love it!

Ha! as a former FJ80 Land Cruiser and Lexus LX450 owner I can relate, so that being said when I started to look for a Tacoma I went straight to the "halo model" TRD PRO. So imagine my surprise when I was informed that I'd be put on a 6 to 9 month waiting list at our local Toyota dealership and expect to pay a premium for the privilege. Going from a three car family to a one car family the waiting period wasn't gonna work and neither was the $50K+ price tag.

Therefore swallowing my pride and massive elitist ego :D I relented to the salespersons advice and put a deposit on the only non-pre sold or allocated Tacoma they had on order the '22 SR5 Trail that arrive a short 9 weeks later. Consequently I wanted all the whistles and bells that come on the TRD PRO but at this time I really don't have any complaints with the "SR5 Trail Edition" and I'm already seeing the same trend with the pre-owned TRD PRO's with this new "Trail" model as they are going for more USED... than they are new go figure??

Thank you for the kind words, I still need to finish paint and organizing of the garage, work in progress. AT over here. I enjoy the Wescott, being that it is really just a preload lift it has the same mannerisms as stock, just a little higher. I was debating doing the spring upgrade as well. Two things holding me back were I wasn't sure if that would put the ride height too low in the travel, causing issues not having enough droop. Or if the spring upgrade combined with the Wescott would have coil bind on full compression, if that even makes sense.

You could just stick a bunch of TRD PRO decals on it... the PRO drivers will love it!

I actually really like the new trails and would have considered one over my pro under perfect circumstances (right color, right price).

Gotta love the stormtrooper pros! Not sure why, but your tires look way beefier than mine! AT or MT? Only asking because I'm curious about the kdpro max.

I lucked out on a PRO - The manual gearbox was the priority for me. I was looking for premium & tech. I would have paid the same $$ for the OR.
I would have been happy with either - but given the choice, I'll take the PRO. Especially in Lunar Rock!2021 Lopz.jpg

Gear hunting issues? I’m hoping the chap above weighs in because I’m also interested. Haven’t read much about them with manual transmissions, though.

I think the gear hunting is an interesting “issue”. I traded my 2010 sr5 when I purchased my ‘22 PRO. I find that my PRO shifts to a lower gear just like my 2010 use to. I haven’t found a huge problem about shifting yet.

It's not something I have to worry about, but seems to be a variable issue. I never noticed it in my wife's 2nd gen.

285/75/16 ko2. The tune completely changed the trucks. It lost some power going to 285s but nothing crazy. Now being tuned, it holds 6th gear on slight inclines and on hills will only kick down to 5th instead of 4th. It had zero gear hunting issues but never really had them too bad to begin with.

I run the normal throttle and it will break 285s from a dead stop with ease. Truck has more then enough power but the tune just make daily drive-ability that much better. It the only “ must have” mod I would recommend to anyone with a 3rd gen taco.

I might would have brought a pro if it was available in a long bed and stick shift. I need a truck to be able to put something in the bed and a short bed just won't cut it. Most of the factory parts that make the pro have been proven not even great. Even the suspension is mediocre. Most pros aren't even bought for what they intended for.......trails. Most are just pavement princesses. Even the ones that see the trails are modded so most of the pro specific parts are remove for aftermarket ones. Also I think the pros need a decent boost in horsepower and torque over the lower trim levels. I could actually justify a pro then. If you're happy with what you drive then you don't need justification in this thread. Just my opinion. You know what they say...... opinions are like assholes..... everybody's got on.
