After months of consideration, I finally decided to join the 3rd gen club. The 2nd gen is still in the family, but I honestly missed not having 4x4 when needed. The truck is definitely different compared to the ‘07. I noticed a lot of people on here complained about the transmission constantly shifting when the new gen came out. Although this is a 2019, I haven’t noticed anything of the sorts? Is there anything I should be on the look out for? It’s been awhile since I’ve been on the forum, but would greatly appreciate any recommendations/concerns. I’m just hoping all of the bugs have been worked out in this model year!

    Congrats!

Just drive it. You will know if the transmission bothers you or not.

If it doesn’t, you have nothing to worry about.

    Good luck!

nice truck man! I have a 2016, purchased fall of 2015 and have never had
the weird shifting issue or any trans/engine issue many complain about.

    Enjoy your truck!

Awesome,, Looks just like mine only newer and before I started removing or blacking out all that chrome. You have good taste. Anyway, my tranny searches for the right gear to be in constantly, something to do with MPG. I hardly notice it anymore except in heavy traffic, then I hit the ECT button and all is good again. You are going to love that truck, have fun and be safe.

No issues here. Went from an 08’ DCOR to a 19’ DCOR and have felt none of the issues others complain about.

    Just enjoy the truck!

Same color as my '18 Limited. Perfect everything as close as can be expected...way better than any competitor!

I think the main thing is not “to be on the lookout” for anything. Wait until you have a personal issue with the truck, or not. This site may breed a certain paranoid over-analysis, an under-current of negativity towards your vehicle, and a nagging consistent critique of every single nuance of the driving experience in your Tacoma.

If I could erase all the “knowledge” I’ve gained here about my truck’s potential problems, or design flaws, I would. It’s a great vehicle and I loved it wholeheartedly until joining this site.

Congrats! The only thing that bothers me about the transmission is mine loves to shift from 6th to 4th on any sort of incline above 60mph then it takes almost a mile to downshift back to 6th even if the road levels out sooner. Otherwise I love the truck and I'm sure you will too!
