Who really cares who won the competition? The frontier is a scumbag truck, that's all you need to know.

The only thing I like about the Frontier is that Nissan does offer a factory sunroof.
Other then that one feature, when it's time to purchase a new truck no doubt it will be a Tacoma access cab 4x4 / manual.

Sun roof and 4 wheel disc brakes and cost are good about the nissan.

^And the gas mileage is what, 12mpg? That's what my buddy gets. And unless Nissan has seriously increased quality from the POS '05 Altima 3.5SE that I owned, there's no comparison to Toyota. Don't even get me started on Nissan's paint quality...

I just traded in my '99 Frontier for a 2009 Access cab :). Although the Frontier wasn't that BAD.. :( things broke that shouldn't have broken. I didn't have the truck more than a month when it started missing on cold mornings. I took it to the dealer who replaced the distributor under warranty. Turns out there was a hidden TSB for the distributor. I had rear springs break as well as front suspension parts go on me. I'm not hard on a truck and don't do any off-road driving.

When it came time to look for a new truck I even looked at Fords (yes, in the sprit of full disclosure, I have to admit I looked at some Found On the Road Dead trucks...) but never even thought to set foot on a Nissan dealer's lot.

Nissan customer service is terrible, the whole company's problem solution philosophy is crap. Nissan just waits until the consumer is out of warranty and does not try and fix the problem, where as toyota will step up the plate and fix the problem.

I agree...they are comparable to the Tacoma (both are Japanese makes) but they aren't as attractive on the user console or the exterior.
Oh and if you test drive one, the Frontier has poor turning radius as compared to the Tacoma.

However the new 09 Frontiers beat the Tacoma in performance.

BINGO. Exactly why I got rid of mine at 30K. No way I was keeping it after the 3/36 after all the crap they put me through for warranty work.

    LOL.

My Nissan had under 100 miles on it before I was calling my dealer about problems with it. It had 400 miles when I tried to get a Manufacturer buy back. It had 800 miles when I sold it to Carmax.

I will never own another Nissan product again. Their Customer Service is a terrible joke as previously mentioned and their quality has suffered tremendously in recent years.

If you actually read what I said, I explained that it was personal experience. But, to be honest, don't expect to come here and hear praises of Nissan. I am also a longtime member of Nissanclub.com and the same thing goes on there re: Toyota.

Oh, and I don't believe you get 15/20 in the Pathfinder. I haven't heard of one person getting that kind of MPG though I guess it could be possible. Besides, that doesn't address the massive quality issues Nissan has had in recent years.

Why did they pick the frontier??? I fucking hate Edmunds, they are wrong about so much stuff on their website but they get away with it. Their argument for picking the Frontier went against everything they said during the test video!!!! Frontier was jumpy in gears, frontiers shorter wheel base made towing feel rougher. Tacoma 400 lbs lighter, did better offroad, longer bed, cramped cabin? wtf. He didn't like the seats... Maybe he didnt adjust them properly... I love my Tacomas seats and I drive bimmers too. The Tacoma is less than half and inch shorter in the front hip and shoulder room, but is bigger in every single other way (rear hip, shoulder, head front, head, etc).

I wonder how many people bought a frontier over a tacoma because of this video. Some random guy was braggin about his frontier to me at a stop light, how much better it was.... Stock frontier, vs my lifted DC TRD OR.

I also have owned nissans, three to be exact. A turbo'd 03 Maxima (I liked it, but FWD and heavy), a 99 Pathy (Pathy had some serious reliability problems), and a 06 Z. The 350Z was a complete piece of shit, no visability at all, unimpressive power. It was the same engine in my Maxima it just wasn't making enough power.

I dumped the pathy on a landscaper, I told him the problems it had, but he didnt care he was using it as a beater for hauling lawnmowers and mexicans.

    1. Probably some big advertising $$$ coming edmunds way
    2. Nissan does a better job smoozing, whining & dining  ;) :D
    3. The freakin Chief Editor said "Pick Nissan" because of #1 & #2.

My experience with Nissan has been a mixed bag. I owned a Pathfinder for a very short period of time (emphasis on short). Mega electrical issues up the whazu, bye bye Pathfinder. A 2007 Murano that was a car in the family was a pretty nice SUV. It however got deep-sixed due to mpg, traded for a hybrid camry.

I do like Edmunds TMV feature.

I like Nissan because they offer cars that I could get excited about like the Z and GT-R. Toyota trucks are better but unfortunately they are also the closest thing they offer for a sports car (X-Runner). Nissan has been improving each year though. Toyota needs to bring back a $40-50k Supra (I know they are planning to) and a RWD Celica-Supra or Corolla (AE86 style) with a turbo 4 or decent 6 for $20-25k. I would also love to see a Nissan Datsun 2+2 come out with a turbo 4 or the VQ for under $30k. Infiniti's are fun and RWD or AWD but Lexus has them beat. Tangent I know but just my thoughts on the 2 companies. Each needs the other as competition to make themselves better. Honda also needs to put their brilliant engines in the right way and make some affordable sporty cars. How about a 200hp, RWD, 2500lb Civic?
