    Just wanted to provide an update. I returned both the original and replacement grille from the Amazon vendor. I then ordered the same OEM grille from Toyota of Nashua that ended up only costing $1 more including shipping. I received this grille a few business days later. The only discernible difference on the box itself was that a packing slip was included on the exterior. As for the grille itself there were no scratches on the interior and no dust particles. However, the 'shims' are the same. So, those were fine.

    Although I can't definitively say that the Amazon grilles were returned/repackaged, all in all I feel better snagging it directly from a Toyota dealer and not seeing any scratches on the interior. I'll also note that, although the Amazon vendor didn't provide any detailed responses to my inquiries, they were fine to work with and accepted the returns quickly.
