I added an in-bed tool box to my Taco! It's a really long (and boring story) which I'll spare you all but family-history says this tool box was built (or bought) by my Grandfather in the early 70's. It then spent several years in a work truck my Dad had back in the 70's. Moved to a utility trailer my Dad bought in the mid 80's, then spent the past ten years sitting in the dirt behind my parents house. I refused to get rid of it thinking I would use it for something 'someday' but it never seemed right for anything I was working-on so it patiently waited.

Well a week ago I brought it home, cleaned it up, painted the inside then mounted it in the bed of my Taco! I frequently travel with two, sometimes three tool bags so it'll be nice to not have them taking-up space in my back seat. It's (somewhat) removable if I want to haul something large (like an ATV) however eventually my Taco is getting a shell so I don't for see needing to remove it very often. Here's some pics!

Oh and for those who are curious my Grandfather used the same-type of tool box in his work truck as well. That box was in my T100 for the first ten years I owned it, now it's mounted where the rear seat used to be in my Dune Buggy. I guess I'm a sucker for family-history!

On my 'Project Bench' after cleaning, sanding and painting.

    Mounted in it's new home

Plenty of room for my tool bags which I didn't think to load-in before I took the picture! I like to paint the inside of tool boxes light colors so things don't get lost as easily inside. It also has a removable tray which I'm still painting.

The handles are just for show; it's bolted through the bed of my truck

Top view. Placement was key; I wanted to be able to lean-over the side to access it (my future camper shell will have 'Windoors')

One more pic. I wanted gaps on two sides so I can tuck things in next to it (such as rope or tie-downs).

Now I just have to find something to do with the other two tool boxes I have LOL!

    VB25 and Interbeing like this.
