Could be, some 3rd gens have only .5” or so of rake stock so it could just be that you’ll be a bit taller until they settle.

Ahh, I didn't know that! I think my OCD is settling in, hopefully the front settles a little bit too. It's been about 2 weeks and 1000 miles.

Measured this morning, 3 corners are at roughly 24.5" from hub to fender. Driver's side rear is at roughly 23.5"

I’ve had significant settling on my 5100/888’s.

Ground to fender, perpendicular through center of hub. I know now that hub to fender is better but this is what I did so for consistency I’ve stuck with it. Same wheels.

    Lift installed at 1.2k mi
    FD 37.5 +2
    FP 37.5 +2
    RD 39.75 +2.75
    RP 39.625 +2.25
    Weight 4910lb

    Updated @ 18.5k mi
    FD 36.75 -.75
    FP 37 -.5
    RD 38.5 -1.25
    RP 39.625 +/-0

I’m OK with the Dakar’s settling a bit but the front settling 1/2” & 3/4” has created more rake than I’d like. I don’t want to spend the coin for coil overs and like the ride I have now but want to regain that 3/4” front lift.

It seems like my only option would be to use some top plate spacers. Is this correct? Any issues doing so?

What size tire are you running? If you are going with ground to fender that’s important to note.

Same tires in both measurements, so that is not contributing to any delta.

Yes but just to let others know total height gained. Always nice to give all the info so if anyone else has questions they can learn from your specs. Either way, I have a set of 1/4 top plate spacers I’d be more than happy to sell to you for cheap, I was experiencing similar issues to you and was going to go that route but am just pulling out the 886s instead.

Gotcha. All my build info is in my signature (specs + build thread with tons of detail). 255/75/17
Thanks for the offer. I have a 1/4" lean spacer, but think I need more than that. I know the lift is 2:1 due to geometry, so I'd prefer to get 3/4-1" to get me as close to 3" lift as possible.
As for your comment about 886's, are you saying you're swapping your 888's for 886's to get more lift? I thought 886's were shorter and higher spring rate, per Headstrong's site. I guess the higher spring rate could prevent preload but also give a stiffer ride.

    • OME 883: 375mm in height, 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 884: 390mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 885: 395mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 886: 402mm in height 660 pound spring rate
    • OME 887: 400mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 888: 405 mm in height 590 pound spring rate

@PNW_125 ive decided to fix the sagging and taco lean at the same time. I’m about to order some spacers from wheelers:
    Driver- 1/4”+3/8”= 5/8” spacer
    Passenger- 1/2” spacer

This should get me perfectly level side to side at 38” so that’ll mean full 3” lift and minimal rake. I’ll try to remember to re-post when I do this in a few weeks.

I already have a 1/4" spacer on my driver side but still a smidge lower than my passenger side on 887s. I'm just going to add 1/2" top plates on both sides and call it a day.

I like the idea of adding the spacers ...i'm in the same boat as far as rake goes , but kinda worried about cv angles ....anyone else ?

Everyone’s adding spacers, has anyone gone up to the 2nd or 3rd notch on the shock?

I installed the OME nitrochargers all around and 888’s and aal in the rear. The rear is a solid 2 inches of lift. The 888’s have settled to about a inch. Seems pretty low. Little less than a inch. So significant rake. I have sliders, front bumper guard and rear (avid off road). Weird that it settled to a inch. But from all I have read they are built for the weight of third gen. Anyone running 886? Thinking of giving that try. Not looking for 3” will be totally content at solid 2 and minimizing so much rake. Anyone experienced this? Advice ?

OME 90021 w/888 driver side trim spacer. Sagged with just ARB Summit Bar. Just bought 90000 w/ 886.

I been debating on the 888 vs 887 on the 5100.My concerns are the ride quaity on the 888 being too stiff. My concern on the 887 is having them settle too much and not getting the amount of lift I want. ( 3rd gen doublecab 4x4) no bumpers, no sliders or any real weight added to the truck.
