Do you think taking the third leaf out of my Dakar heavy pack may improve driveline vibes? Also how much weight do you think I can put in the back without it being hazardous if I take a leaf out. I have the CS047R heavy (7-leaf) pack

I've had my HD dakars on for a bout a week now big improvement over stock with aal. It's stiff to be expected unloaded but nothing uncomfortable. Had no squeaks to speak of yet yesterday washed the truck an heard a squeak for The first time crawled under to investigate I didn't retorque the shackle mount on one side plum forgot about it. After correcting my error no squeaks love the ride.

I kept mine on and just placed the liners over them. I dont think it matters if they're on or not as long as u cut the liners to the exact length of each individual leaf. I did keep the metal plates between some of the upper leafs still (u'll see those plates when u take urs apart)

The AAL with liners in between each leaf would've been tight with the orginal centerpin from the 95 leaf packs. I cant guarantee it'll fit cuz i just used the longer centerpins provided in the 3° axle shim kit that i bought from HeadStrong.

The website for the liners says they are 1/16" thick. I did 6 liners for my 95 + AAL (aka 96) then it shld be an additional 0.375". If u have more than that sticking out right now on ur 96 leaf packs then u "shld" be good.

I’ve gone back and forth on which leaf pack to get. I’ll probably get the heavy, that way I’ll have the extra leaf if I need it.

I only want 1” or lift, and will run a camper shell weighing 250#, except when camping and it is an extra 200# in the shell.

I know a lot of people go back and forth in their decision. The nice thing is that either way you go, medium duty or heavy duty, you are not stuck. If you go with the heavy duty and feel like it is too much you can remove the 3rd leaf which directly converts the HD pack into the medium duty. If you go with the medium duty you can always add in the EL46XL and convert the medium into the heavy duty. Currently the HD pack is $40 more then the medium duty and the and add-a-leaf costs $72.99. Either way it's not a huge difference in pricing now or down the line.

And that's what I did: I ordered the heavy duty pack with the thought that I can remove the extra leaf if it was too much. Turns out I made the best decision in going with the heavy duty pack and am happy with the results.

Quick question for those who have installed the speedway motor leaf liners how hard is it to take apart the leaf packs and instal the leaf liners and then put back together the leaf pack? Do I need to clamp it back together? This would be my first lifted truck so bare with me.

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
I haven't put the liners in but I have taken my packs apart a couple times. If they are off the truck, it shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes. It's just the 2 bolts and then then 1 nut on the center pin that needs to be removed. You probably want to use a clamp to keep everything from springing apart and make it a little easier to get the nut back on but you could probably do it it without too. It's not like a coil spring that will shoot across a shop, it just kind of fans out quickly and might make you jump.

Easy, 2 sockets and a ratchet to take apart. The center pin did relieve some tension so be prepared for a pop but I didn't use any clamps. I added a leaf so I needed 3 packs of the liners and put a 4 inch center pin back in. I was able to do it myself on the bench by just pushing the pack down by hand. Let me know if you have any questions.
