I had the complete leaf packs off my truck. I clamped the leaf packs and unbolt the centerpins. Then you separate each leaf and make sure the leaf liners are cut to length. I placed my liners over every individual leaf including the overload. There will be several metal plates, just make sure you put them back, I had them on top of the liners. You will have to drill a hole through the liner for the center pin to go through after you lay them out.

what size of bushings do i need for the eyes of these new dakars? Reason i ask is i have some brand new ones laying around. Really just need an inner diameter and width measurement of the eyes without a bushing.

Not sure of the size, but you’re set if they look like this: https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/store/p513/Full_leaf_pack_bushing_kit.html

Energy Suspension’s website will probably have the dimensions listed.

When I purchased my dakars while back from headstrong I was sent energy suspension bushings. Im just barely getting around to install but noticed the diameter of the bushing was 3/16 smaller than the diameter of the eye. Might want to double check with Marie before placing order .[/QUOTE]

wow 3/4 of an inch is all both front and rear?

Maybe ill measure the bushings i have at home, they were from dobinsons springs in a package for parabolic spring install... but that went horribly south.

I measured mine that are not on the truck yet and I'm getting 40mm, so just over 1.5 inches.

Dakars EL095 and EL096 are supposed to use 40mm bushings in forward and rear eyes, such as the Energy Suspension 8.2116 kit.

40mm looks about right, and actually what is specd in the ARB OME pdf catalog.

I have been told a high moly grease is best on bushings like this

    And you can’t overgrease them!

I was once told a *really* long time ago that petroleum grease can damage polyurethane so therefore I've always used Super Lube, which is a silicone grease and is similar to the Formula 5 Energy Suspension includes in those little packet tubes.

However since then I've learned a lot more and now know that this isn't true. I still use Super Lube anyway.

It pretty much doesn't matter although waterproof is good, moly and PTFE are probably not a bad idea and ultimately whatever you use just plan on servicing once in a while to keep the squeak down.

Mine didn't come with any lube, so that's a good idea.

I just thought I'd chime in...
The energy bushings we carry measure the same as the OME bushings (OD for eye of OME packs) and so they work perfectly with the OME Dakars. We prefer to include these in our bundled kits as they include the grease packs, thicker sleeves, and the shackle bushings in case you want those replaced as well (NOTE: not an easy task). Both bushing kits cost about the same and so we prefer to include the Energy bushings in our kits.

What kind of center hub to fender measurements are people seeing with the medium pack on an unloaded truck?

Did you run the liners over the original isolators at the ends of each main leaf?
