    Hey ya'll,

    Was in a bit of a rush to get my suspension upgraded before a camping trip and I did not do my due diligence and just trusted the shop owner that a medium duty OME leaf pack would not raise the rear end of my truck. When I picked up the truck he said, 'sorry, but it raised your truck 2 inches". (actually 3-4"). So, it works great when my camper is loaded, but not loaded it feels weird to drive (a bit unsafe?) and the front wheels graze the wheel wells when turning sharp in reverse. I drive the truck a lot w/o the camper so it is going to be a problem. Suggestions? I'm still working with the shop. I think it was an honest error and they are taking responsibility, but I need some 3rd party edu. TIA

    Ask them to consult with OME and select/install the correct pack for your purposes.

    Keep in mind that it's going to settle some over time.

    If it's the kind of place that does enough business/volume to be able to offer to swap in a different leaf pack, you could go that route.

    If not, consider just throwing 300 lbs of steel ballast in the back.

    IDK whether OME springs sag over time or not. I've heard that they do but I can't confirm. If you can get enough confirmation from others around the forums etc. that they do sag, then maybe just leave 400-500 lbs of weight in the back at all times to accelerate the settling/sag process.

    Personally I run Deaver rear leafs specifically because they're one of the few known not to eventually sag.

    If they are OEM springs they will absolutely sag over time.

    OEM != OME

    Yup... definitely transposed the OP's title in my head. Sorry, once again I prove my humanity!:p

    I do hope he figures out the springs. After all most all springs settle a bit after the first hundred or so miles....one of the reasons you're supposed to retorque after that distance.

    The camper is loaded for the summer so I won't be able to get a picture until October.

    Thank you. I think having the camper loaded all summer should help accelerate the sag.

    I do carry sandbags all winter for traction purposes so I guess that can be a kludge. They make the truck ride a lot better too. :)

    I have the HD leaf pack too. If you pull the leaf packs off, you can remove the second leaf from the bottom to lose a bit of height. Or just give the front a bit more lift. I have 3" up front plus 1/2" body lift. The rear springs still give me 2"+ of rake. I drive with a loaded bed (topper and tools) most of the time. When the topper is off, she rides high in the rear.IMG_20210706_115829037_HDR.jpg

    Thank you. It's good to be back. :) I may follow your example and add a bit of lift to the front. I was never a lifted truck kind of guy but I have discovered, much to my surprise, that my wife is a lifted truck kind of gal. She loves it!

    Why not just raise the front a couple of inches?

    I might, but my concern is that that will put me right back where I started with the rear end below the front when the camper is loaded. Plus I'm guessing it is expensive.
