Took mine in today, was told Toyota asked dealers to hold off, pending a more permanent solution.

I’m not surprised. Like what are the chances that slapping on a square of folded gummy tape with some random gap for ventilation is actually going to work long term? Like your life depends on a wad of tape? Is the Toyota tech applying the tape wad now responsible for your life? Doesn’t sound very “Toyota” to me.

So I took mine in 40 minutes ago and just got a call that it is ready.
    Conversation with service manager:

SM- "we can't do all of the recall on a truck that has been lifted or modified with bigger tires."

Me- "why not? It was just putting a seal on the radar to keep water out, right?"

SM- "well we couldn't do the calibration because the truck being taller throws it out of the parameters"

Me- "but did you put the seal on the radar?"

    SM- "Yes."

Me- "so should my truck be safe from just slamming on its breaks randomly driving down the road?"

    SM- "Yes."

I have a 1.1" level in the front on 265/75/16s. I'm not sure why it would be so difficult to calibrate the radar for the adjusted height, but it is what it is. I am happy with the seal and will just dial down the range on the radar to compensate.

I'm in the same boat honestly that's why I am just letting it be. I am in Memphis and my Toyota is the "#1 volume dealer in the area!" if that tells you anything. I could take it to one of the other dealerships but I have yet to find a competent service department in this city so I am better off just doing most things on my own.

Interesting. I am eager to see if I got internal sealer or foam crap. I will pick it up around lunch and let y'all know. I wish there was a way to just disable the radar. *stares at 2019 4runner and my high trade in value*

I guess I am partially SOL legally if mine hits the breaks and maims or kills me lol. God forbid someone upsize their tires by an inch and a half.

Basically the whole reason I went SR5 over OR is to have as few technological goodies as possible to malfunction. I was coming off an f150 that had a trigger happy auto shutoff feature so I didn't want any part of over-complicated "features." I will gladly shut off the pcs system if possible.

My instructions day that if you have a Sensor that is vented , 3 little holes in the back that you can see you don't need it.

You don’t have to use the adaptive cruise control. You can still just use regular cruise control instead. No need to turn off that function unless you are just meaning that sensor in the grill?

They actually didn’t do anything. They said Toyota told them that they can’t touch this recall on “modified” vehicles..
