I was also told that it is not possible for them to disable the system entirely and that I need to call Toyota and ask them to authorize my dealership to fix it.

I called Toyota and initiated a Claim. I think if they got deluged with these they might get this dealt with

Took my TRD Pro Tacoma-18 into the dealer for the recall. I was told they didn't have the right sealer for the recall. How does a dealership accept appointments for a recall without having parts to fix it; was told it was on special order. Again, the most unorganized recall ever.

My OR and I went in Saturday for an inspection that took 2 hours, tomorrow they will do the recall, likely for another 2 hours for them to do their stuff. I am guessing this is a quick fix for a bigger problem that will be addressed later. I have had several phantom BRAKE prompts that went away, and I have always been leery of them. I would hate for a turn to be happening, and suddenly it slams on the brakes when I am on a dirt road and lose control. I am glad they are addressing it, but the way they appear to be handling the logistics of this whole thing is frustrating. I feel for all these poor folks with aftermarket grills and lifts.

This makes it seem like the Pro grille is an upgrade to our off road grilles. SR5 and off road are getting fully covered.

Screw Toyota, I'm not going to fix it or even worry about it .The service center at another dealership said that if you bought a lifted Toyota from them and that you need to return it to stock. Ok that's fine but these people that bought it already done don't have the parts to do it .The salesman say oh yeah your covered, we will take care of you. Lol that are all full of shit. My dealership said a field rep has authorization to shut off the system.

I believe it can be disabled through Techstream, but you might end up with the light in the dash. I’m curious the best way to disable. Planning for the out of warranty period when this crap fails and I’m not going to pay money to have Toyota fix/calibrate...

We should make a list of the dealerships that will and won’t do the recall.

Toyota of Murfreesboro in Murfreesboro, TN will do it.

I am going next week to check it out. I will do everything in my power to get a denial in writing if they refuse to perform a safety recall. I don’t think they will deny as I swapped the Pro Grill out and back to stock (c’mon-its 15 minutes).

That’s what they did for my recall, had to reinstall the oem grille for them to do it.

    Update:
First picture was before I had to reinstall my oem grille which they did a small tape and 2nd was after I installed the oem and toon it back for the recall “Fix”.

Which stock grill do you have? Is it like this one?

We have the same grill, but different 'fixes'. They put the cushion along the back side of my radar unit.

Also noticed that in the fix instructions there is a picture of a radar unit with the letters FP on it. Mine only has the F - what's on yours?
