I think you are probably right. I would wonder who is liable when my lifted truck slams the brakes and causes an accident. If the recall was rejected, I would think Toyota is taking on more liability by not performing the recall on modified trucks.

I have had "BRAKE!" come on one time when there wasn't another vehicle in sight, front or rear. Luckily the brakes were not applied, just the dash warning.

I guess you would say, SUDDENLY! It was a pounding rainstorm on the interstate and BRAKE light came on and it applied the brakes to the point the ABS kicked in! And as fast as it came on, it just went away! I pulled off at the next exit and pulled the connector off the sensor! Of course, lights popped up on the dash, but it was INOP at that point. I plan on keeping it INOP.

Go to SETTINGS (the gear) on far right, then go to PCS and you can toggle on or off with the center button on steering wheel. Hope this helps!
It does NOT cycle back on with every start! It’s off permanently, you will just have the little PCS OFF light to the right of the temp gauge on all the time.

It does reset back to on on my 2019 after shutting the truck off and restarting it. So maybe something changed with either the 2019 model or the software update they did

I think Toyota will be making this right for all who owns modified trucks. Mine didnt give any codes at all ,that all checked out perfectly . But they didnt put the rain coat on it. They even told it was working the way it is supposed to. Ask me if I used the radar controlled cruise. I said yep,all the way here. All 40 miles.

I was pretty sure when I turned it off once, it came back on the next time I started the truck. I'm going to check this out today. In the meantime, it actually says in the manual that it enables when the vehicle is restarted.
    You got a Unicorn maybe.

Edit: I just tested this and when I stopped at the store, got back in and started the truck up again, the PCS was back to enabled, no off light.

But the dealership still noted cant perform recall due to lift and tires. No matter what lift . It just sucks. But when its raining I will turn off the pcs. Drove the truck home 225 miles from the beach in a tropical storm ,torrential rain. The radar never give a message or whatever they say its doing.

At the dealership with my 2018 OR for another issue and they are doing the decal voluntarily.

I have a Faux Pro grill and they didn't even ask about it.

I’ve had zero issues with the sensor so far, I just don’t use it and finding it a bit annoying.

Well, scratch that. Just got a call and they won’t do it with the pro grill. I guess the foam is a different shape or something for the OR vs pro grill.

Hmmmm, odd that so many reset automatically but mine does not. One more reason to never go to the stealership!
    I dont want any updates!

This appears to be what I thought.

    "
The calibration fixture can be set up in about five minutes, with target boards facing the vehicle to communicate with the forward-facing sensors. Once a diagnostic tool is connected, the vehicle’s central controller can set the proper parameters for the cameras.

“I haven’t physically moved the camera – you’re doing it with software,” Wuchte says. “The software picks that point and says that’s the straightforward trajectory of the vehicle.”

Adjusting the vehicle’s radar sensor is similar but requires a physical adjustment by the technician based on information from the diagnostic software.

Yep,it keeps getting better. They will have to solve this problem. To many running around like what we all have done. Cosmetics.

I feel like silicone would do a better job around the whole housing instead of that stupid cushion cover.

I think that cushion is supposed to cover the vent to shed rain, but leave an air gap so the vent can still do its job and equalize pressure/dissipate condensation.

Had my recall taken care of today. A man cannot see it from the outside so it does not bother me.

They had my truck for 55 minutes doing the recall and the 6 month check up minus the tire rotation and the free wash.

Talked to my dealer in Boone North Carolina and I'm on the list to have recall done on a modified lifted truck. They told me Toyota is working on a remedy for all that has modified there trucks. So I'm on the list. So their will be something done about this. They have the seal that covers the sensor in stock at parts. They offered to sell it to me and I put it one but told me since I'm on the,to be called list,to just wait.:fingerscrossed::amen:
