Hi there, curious if you had issues again with the PCS system after re-installing your pro or aftermarket grille after they did the software update/calibration?

So does everyone on this site thinks these trucks are pretty much trash, junk pos,or whatever you want to call it ? It's really nerve racking to think you spend $34-$36.000 and they are just shit vehicles. I hope this isn't the case. To much money invested and I'm fixing to be going back and forth to the outer banks a lot. Beach driving not to mention 6.5 hour ride from home. Dont want to be paranoid about this.

One of the most reliable vehicles on the road with a minor issue being taken care of at no cost. Don't sweat it

It's not a big deal. I wouldn't trade mine for anything on the road. They fixed it. It's ok

I’m just not impressed with the inconsistency from one dealership to another on how this recall is being carried out.I had to remove my Pro grill to get the recall done.Other dealerships are doing the recall on lifted trucks with after market grills.Don’t get me wrong,I am happy for those who got taken care of with no issues but this makes Toyota Corporate look like a bunch of unprofessional CLOWNS!They truly are lacking in the control or lack of control that they have over their dealerships. This is a true Cluster Fuck that they never had control of from the very beginning.Oh well that’s all I have ,time to move on

I just bought my Tacoma brand new and it had the recall already done. I switched out grills myself over the weekend and haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Not everyone dude. I like mine as do many others. I think you will find that there are a few here that nothing will satisfy and those few tend to make a lot of racket that drowns out the good stuff.

So if this recall is performed with a new sensor. Do you still have the ability to turn the system off and it stay off after your cycle the key? Reason I ask is my dealership ordered a new sensor for my truck under the recall but I'd love to be able to disable the system in general.

    Still stock completely capable!
I would also love to disable the system but my OCD would eat me alive having the stupid dash light lit up all the time!! If they can disable it and keep the light off sign me up!

I just returned from the dealer and they told me the performed the PCS recall and the tranny TSB I asked for. I noticed the tranny update right away so we're good there. drives better and a bit more responsive, for now. I just lifted the hood and checked to see what they did for the PCS but I dont see anything different. No foam and the sensor looks the same. Although, I dont think i would notice if they changed it. My paperwork says "Cushion, Skid Control" but what does that mean? Was the recall performed or not? How can I verify?

BTW, I have a aftermarket TRD Pro Grill and nothing was said about it.

I haven't read all 28 pages of this but asking anyways; are they recalibrating the sensors at the same time?

Last time I took my truck in they wanted to do this recall procedure but did not have a tech at the time. Now I'm stalling until the parts arrive to lift my truck a couple inches so it will be calibrated but am wondering if there is any advantage to this. I also have a knockoff grille if it matters.

I love my truck and the wife does to. You just here so much negativity here at times. All new vehicles have quirks trust me I know. This isn't my first new truck. So what is the TSB for the transmission? That's the only thing that is taking me some time to get use to. I use the ECT and s4 and s5 a good bit unless I'm on the interstate

August will be a year since I bought it. So far no problems. Still haven't received a letter from Toyota about the recall. Been in 2 hurricane's driving rain hard. Still know issue. Hope I didn't just jinx myself

Want me to be honest? The Aisin built trans is a good one mechanically speaking. The programming for it sucks. And when I say sucks I mean it's real crappy. It works for me. Does not work well for others. It seems you are in one camp or the other. All the TSB's seem to only work in the short term. It's really a situation of whether you can adapt to it or not. Rest assured, the trans is not known for failure, just demented shifting behavior.

The “cushion” that is used for the pro installation is different than the others and I believe it’s not very visible.

I took my 2018 OR in for 10k service and asked about having the recall completed. I was told recall would take 4-6 hours and would need to leave my truck overnight because "the calibration needs to be done in the dark" Sounded like total nonsense to me so doubt I'll go back to that dealership.
