That's only part of it. There's also a potential software update and sometimes a new sensor all together. I did the foam myself yesterday, I've only had issues in heavy rain, so we will see.

I didn't realize they were putting foam in-front. I only knew of the sealer over the back corner and top to shield the breather.
That begs an interesting question.... I wonder if the "all new 2020" will have a redesigned emblem, or if the new sensor will be sufficient (different breather design).

The 2020’s have new grilled so I bet they’ve taken care of the issue by the time it’s released.

"You see, youre truck is lifted, but this sensor is calibrated at 24.458439576" in height for a stock tacoma. So ANY lift/tires will throw off the sensor's range, affecting the cone by 3.45531235 degrees. So therefore we cant perform the recall on your truck sir"

I'm exaggerating, but thats my interpretation of what happened when I went in. He did shoot me the "nice truck though bro" so I took it as a win

You mean shifting the cone 1.2423 degrees in the y-axis? fahk, just void my warranty already

Just got this done on my ‘19 Pro. Everything is stock. No foam pad is installed on my sensor. It says they performed “Repair B” on the work order. I’m seeing other member’s work order and theirs says “Repair A”. Did they not fully perform this recall?

To be honest I would like the new sensor. Seems as if all the Tacoma recalls are bubble gum fixes. Not impressed with the fix for this one at all......

Mind posting a picture of the back of your sensor...wondering if it has vent holes on it.

The PRO repair is a bit different. I don't think you can see the foam pad if you have a legit PRO. There is a post in here somewhere where a member posted the repair instructions for each type.

Starting at post 207 in this thread is the repair instructions.

No vents. Your patch was applied on the front left side of the sensor. I think I see a little bit of the foam in the picture behind the plug area.

Just got my recall notice today, build was 5/18. Here's my big question: will they replace my sensor? And will I have to beg them to do so?

In the 11.5 months I've owned my truck I've had 2 or 3 "System Unavailable - Clean Sensor" warnings that went away upon next start-up. Then once last month I was driving at night after heavy rains and got the "BRAKE!" message / buzzer on a totally deserted road. A little jarring to say the least.

I've had a few random "BRAKE!" messages on my 2018. Nothing related to rainy weather, maybe the right angle of sun light or glare.

I only ever had the brakes automatically brake for me on a quick stop AFTER I hit the brakes... Yeah I'm faster then the brake module. This is my only experience with this system so far.

Has anyone here actually had the brakes randomly lock up?

They will only replace the sensor if there are trouble codes stored. The clean sensor can happen due to bugs, water, or other foreign matter on the outside of the grille emblem and does not mean a faulty sensor. As part of the recall they will hook up to the computer and if a new sensor is needed they will likely have to order it. Otherwise, you will get the "cushion" and be on your way.

All done. Didnt change the sensor just put the sticky pad on the sensor and ran the codes. All good. And they tuned the transmission so no more hunting gears. Did have to sign the waiver. But it is what it is.
