Does anyone know of a dealer in the Phoenix area who is taking care of this for 'modded' trucks without hassle? It seems the results are not consistent from dealer-to-dealer.

They all are going to be different that's what sucks.i just got lucky with a really good group. The individual owners of the dealerships are just covering their butts

Just got my recall letter. Right now my truck has got a faux pro grill and one size up tires. I’ll post up what the dealer tells me and the dealer doing the work. Hoping they won’t push me away because I have been getting the pcs disable message.

I went all in and read 32 pages, but nothing.
Have any of you guys gotten, or received an update on the more permanent fix?

I'm gonna be a little disappointed in myself if I devote a day at the dealership for 'fix' be offered at present.

Hmm... i thought the permanent fix was the replacement and the foam pad... i'd have to look through the thread chronologically again.

Has anyone had the actual sensor replaced due to errors logged by the system?

I’ve got 73k miles on mine and it’s only false alarmed a handful of times, brakes never applied.

It always when you have the radar cruise “on” but you aren’t actually using cruise control.

I think I’ll just leave it be until it actually fails permanently :fingerscrossed:

    ^ X2

All that piece of shit slapped on the sensor is going to do is kick the can down the road a couple blocks.

    Bring on the full failure..

I had to have my Radar Sensor replaced back in Dec of 2018. According to the tech write up it showed an OPEN CIRCUIT failure.

I Bought my 18 in Nov of 2017. Everything was cool like the Fonz for almost a year until So Cal went through a few months of non stop heavy rain towards the end of 2018. I started getting PCS failure message/lights during and after rainy days. At first I was like WTF! - then it became clear that rain was my problem. I would always have problems when it rained and on days following. I told the service manager of my suspicions - he didn't seem to GAF - said, can't be, the wiring is water resistant, and it looks fine. Looked at my Front facing camera mod and told me that that could be the problem. Long story short - they wanted to charge me a diagnose fee prior to doing any diagnostics because of the mod. I raised hell and they backed off and proceeded to diagnose the problem stated above.

Unfortunately for me, they replaced the radar unit with the same thing. After the next rain I got a few more failure messages and pop ups but they went away and the rains subsided.

Around April the recall came out. I returned to the dealer to have the cushion applied and for a reprogram of the unit (recall fix performed). Shortly after someone posted the recall fix procedure. I saw that there was a radar unit that now had a few holes on the backside - to specifically address the water intrusion problem. I wish I would have known of this before taking my truck in to be serviced. I would have demanded that they replace the unit with one of the new redesigned units with the vent holes on the back.

Like others have said - I think this cushion BS patch will be a temporary fix. The right thing to have done would have been to replace the radar units affected by the recall with the new redesigned unit. Toyota F'd up on this one....

    End-rant.

Called a nearby dealer after getting my letter today. I told them I have the pro grille and the advisor said no problem. He said initially they weren’t touching modified Tacomas, but they now are. If the visit goes anything other than, I’ll report back.

Reading on the Facebook group, when signing the waiver, do they deactivate our auto cruise control feature?

Just had my 2018 OR into Lancaster Toyota's Service Center (Lancaster, Pennsylvania) yesterday for the recall. Before leaving the vehicle, I expressed to the service adviser my concerns about having the PCS programmed in such a way that I'd have to re-enable it every time I drove the truck. He (and another service adviser in the adjacent station) assured me they only turn it off and then it's up to me to turn it back on. They also assured me that, upon vehicle startup, the PCS will start in the state it was last in when the vehicle was shut-off.

I was a bit anxious when I went to pick the truck up but when I fired it up, there was not a single dash light warning and the PCS was still enabled. Also, there was no sticker/decal placed anywhere alerting the driver that the PCS system has been disabled.

The dealer did make me sign a waiver/disclaimer. All things considered, I thought the dealer handled it well and I appreciated that the service advisers were knowledgeable about the recall and my concerns.

I had my 2018 TRD Sport to the dealer a month ago and they said they cant do recall as o have hood protector on. It only stand off hood 1/4" or less. The big TRD fake intake stands up way more! I spoke to customer service and they can only read the letter back to me and do not have the technical ability to explain it better. I think I want to go back to Nissan! - never had these issues with them in 20 years of buying cars and trucks!

    Anyone have same issue?

I have had the PCS Brake warning go off about a dozen times for no reason. It doesn't apply the brakes, just the warning comes up. I just ignore it at this point.

Does this mean I will be getting a whole new sensor? How will the dealer determine if I need a whole new sensor or just the sealant?

I am also worried if this is a highly technical job that some dipshit will fuck up my truck...
