Took mine in for the 10k mile service, and they informed me there was an open recall for the radar so I told them to go ahead and check it. They told me I was affected. Ok, so I make the appointment to have it replaced/fixed. When I dropped it off to get it fixed they kept the truck all day, and eventually told me they couldn't get the radar to re calibrate properly because I changed the OEM grille to a trd pro styled grille. The lady on the phone told me that there are "two different radars" between the trd pro grille and the regular trd off road. Which I dont necessarily believe. I'd be willing to bet its because I'm not paying to have it recalibrated for that specific grille. God do I hate dealerships anymore.

Just ask for the part numbers for each and see if they are the same.

I thought about that. My new appointment is at 1pm today after I switch the grille back to OEM. I'll call a random dealer and ask for them before I go. Dont really trust my dealership anymore. They're on strike 2 haha.

I put my oem grill back in this morning so they'll do the recall. Called 3 different dealers in my general area and they all said they wont give out part numbers for the off road and pro radar sensors. Just told me they are 2 completely different sensors and with the recall, toyota has strict policies that wont allow them to do the recall if anything is modified (grille, suspension, tires).

However much your dealer feels that he can bend you over for they will replace it at dealer cost and bill you

Toyota is working on a software update for the radars that should allow for reprogramming if the pro grill is installed. I thought this was already possible but obviously that’s not the case, or at least Toyota is not allowing it lately.
When this new software becomes available it will most likely be an expensive update

Guess I did lol. Hell it seems like even if you change the shift knob there would be some b.s. issue about it. From what I've read it seems like Tacoma's have always been a favorite for lifting, off roading, etc. Now it seems like Toyota is just hindering that "scene" if so many ways. I've got all these off road features and I'm half hesitant to even go off road and try to use them cuz breakage could void the warranty or whatever the dealer decides to come up with that week lol

Mine was done a couple weeks ago. Dont think there was an issue with the TSS recall but there were other issues with the dealer not doing a true multipoint inspection.

I "Think" it is working but not sure until a bit more rain driving.

I am stock on height and grille....will see what happens.

My truck has the stock grille. Called one dealership and they wanted a 1 hour appointment to assess the vehicle before ordering parts and another appointment to perform the recall. I told her I work 60 hours a week, I'm not making two appointments. Called another and they ordered the parts. I'll be doing business with this one in the future.

Took mine in on Saturday. Since I had I've already had a couple issues with my dealership before, so when I switched back to the oem grille I made a little mark on the radar with a silver sharpie. Dealer told me whe radar was replaced... guess what part of my truck STILL has that little silver mark on it? Lol. I'll be calling them tomorrow to complain ab pu ur being lied to for the third time now. And I'll be going to another dealership from now on. Basically all they did was put a little sticky foam piece over top of the radar. I'd be surprised if this is actually how Toyota "fixes" this recall. I feel after driving in a few good rains, this foam shield will fall off. Here's a pic of their"fix".

If your sensor tests fine that's the fix.

So has anyone gotten an actual answer on what the foam thing is for? I've had 2 different service people tell me 2 different answers. One said it's to keep out water, but the other said it's to help "obsorb" radar reflection. Has anyone else heard the second reason?
