would you know how they are installed differently? i can honestly say it looks exactly how it did when i handed my truck over to them.

and how do i know if i have the new style sensor? i purchased my truck back in november 2018, but it's a 2019 trd sport dclb. thank you in advanced!

edit: after going back out and looking around for a bit, i noticed there was a foam pad installed between the sensor and the grille. if i were standing in the front of my truck looking straight down, i can only see/feel it from the left, but there's nothing on the right side. also, i rechecked my vin to see if the recall was still there, and it is. any idea of if it should be removed from my truck's history immediately, or if it takes a bit to go away?

The non-pro grilles get a different “fix”, you won’t really be able to see the “seal” for the sensor on the pro grille (from what I’ve heard)

appreciate the response. i went out and took a photo and it looks like i got the foam buffer pad installed on the left side. i also referred to post #206 and #207 (repair B) and it's exactly what they did to mine. now i'm just wondering when the recall will be removed from my truck's recall history.

picture of mine for reference. don't mind the sliver of double sided tape on that washer. the screw wasn't long enough to thread into the hole with the washer there, so i just wedged the washer between and put the tape there to secure it. :)

I have KO2s that lift my truck 11.6 mm, no other mods. I actually bought the truck new with those tires installed. I paid the dealer to verify the correct operation of the TSS system after they were installed, cost me about $350. I don't actually think 12 mm would make any difference because the front end of the vehicle is moving up and down on the suspension all the time, but I did not want any issues with insurance down the road.

Brought the truck in last week for the recall, told them not to do anything that would cause the calibration to have to be redone. They said they have no idea what the new software does, can't guarantee anything. I asked them to call their tech line, they refused. I asked them to just install the waterproofing material, don't touch the ECU. They said they have to do the whole recall including the ECU reprogramming.

I asked them if they had any idea what software changes were included. They mentioned transmission recalibration. I asked them what kind of software my manual transmission truck would be needing because that's a new one?

I told them not to touch the truck and I will just hit the sensor with a bead of silicone.

I hear you ... every time I bring my truck into the dealership and they “remind me” about the service campaign I ask them if they’ll do my truck with a pro grille and suspension without shutting off the TSS and having me sign a waiver and they say no, I tell them it’s working just fine as is and not to touch it.

I’m not sure if this has come across yet either, but they told me because I have a lift they can’t install the update without disabling the system. They told me they can just leave it alone if I want and not do the update. They can’t confirm the update will work with the lift so they aren’t allowed to turn it back on. This is from the idiots that sell lifted highlanders. I told them not to touch it.

Sept 2020 Update: I have had zero issues with my 2019 Sport, never got a recall notice. Using an aftermarket Pro grill, supplied garnish and covered in the back with stick on vibe dampener (rubber and neoprene).

    Hi Everyone:

    Hope you are all well.

Just wanted to share my experience today and any suggestions/cooments are welcome.

Took my 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4, factory grill, factory wheels, factory tires, today to my local dealership for both recalls; the fuel pump and the PCS sensor. Arrived 8am and was told to pick it up just before 5pm, when I arrived to pick it up was told they completed the fuel pump replacement but were having issues recalibrating the front sensor. I was so mad, since they should have called me to tell me they haven't finish before I asked a co-worker to drop me off at the dealership. I took my Taco home with the PCS off and won't turn on, Cruise Control won't work either. Going back tomorrow hopeful to have my Taco back fixed of something that was working when I took it to the dealer in the first place.

    Randy

I would have demanded a loaner and let them finish the job. I hate when dealers BS and dont tell you it isnt ready.

Is there any way to reverse the update? I regret having them perform the recall, and signing the waiver. I turned it back on and it says that the sensor needs to be cleaned. Anyone having this issue?

Was the waiver for being lifted, not having the original grill for your trim, or wrong tire size? I think they brick the sensor now for those cases.

    T-SB-0026-20 states:
    WARNING
Once this calibration has been performed, the PCS and DRCC systems will be
PERMANENTLY DISABLED. Replacing the millimeter wave radar is REQUIRED to reinitiatet thePCS and DRCC systems.

They didn't even put in the insert or the stupid sticker. Additionally, the constant cruise control does not work either. Frustrating.
