For those that had it done already, would you post a picture of the back of the radar unit. Wondering if they are doing the same thing for the Pro grill that they did on my stock grill.

Made an appointment to bring mine in on Saturday for the recall, hopefully this can be done on Saturday and they don't call me back and tell me that this is something that needs to be done during the week.

Had mine done last Friday during my 15k service. My service writer was actually the one that came and told me. He said he went to check their inventory and had parts available to do it and it would take about another hour to complete if I wanted it done. Of course I said yes. They gave me no issues about my faux grill or OVTune. Pictures of the back of my TSS unit and service record.

Edit: it’s not a replacement I believe it’s a seal/gasket foam piece that is applied.

Is that water or glue on the back?

That's not an after picture is it? I don't see anything different - no padding/cushion

@TacoD@n this is my AFTER picture. You can clearly see where they applied the cushion piece. I don't think the picture @tacomethis posted is the AFTER picture. I am also curious to know what this cushion does exactly - Looks like it keeps water from dripping down the back side of the radar unit from above but when it's raining and your traveling at speed I would imagine water is going every which way back there. The cushion piece is very spongy, I'd say about 5mm thick.

So that’s the “sealant” the recall calls for?

I can't be sure. Maybe they applied some sort of 'sealant' to the top edge of the unit where the two parts of the radar unit come together to keep water out - then they placed this cushion on the back :notsure:
The cushion may also keep water form dripping down the front of the radar unit and causing it to fault and turn off...:notsure:

The invoice in the first post mentions EPT sealer, which is that foam material. It looks like it makes a little waterproof skirt to keep the breather hole covered and dry.

I've got a faux pro grill got my done yesterday. Dealer did not say anything but they did note it. Progrille of unknown origin. I was getting errors with the radar. After washing the engine bay. Everything is working perfect now I can see a little cushion looking piece in there on the passenger side.

That picture of mine was the after. I never did look to see where the seal/foam was. I went and looked to see where it was and circled the foam. It seems to hold the sensor a little more snug and tighter. So I’m guessing here to help with vibration/leaks.

Again I got a faux pro grill with OEM glass.

I wonder if that is the procedure for the Pro grill, @Zerotaco describes the same thing done to his. Can someone with the stock grill, that has had it done, post a picture please. Curious to know if the cushion is attached in the same manner it was on mine - I have the stock grill.

Sitting at the dealer right now. I have the stock Sport grille so they have no excuses.
I will post a pic of what they do for the repair. This is Louisiana so lets see what kind of redneck fix they have, or will they follow the directions in the bulletin?

Everyone that’s posted pictures of the work has different results... I wonder what the documentation actually says they’re supposed to do?

    Wish that would actually work.

But no dice. the dealer said they spoke with Toyota and denied the service. and will not work on any way around it.

    The dealer in question is:
    Thompsons Toyota
    140 Forni Rd
    Placerville, CA 95667

They even have the pro grill on display for sale on the wall for people. Yet wont even try to work with you to try and get the service done. Anyone local would best be advised to go elsewhere.

Def not the same placement. It would be nice if we could get a hold of the actual TSB - or whatever instructions they are going by to complete this fix. If anyone else is planning on getting this done, can you please take BEFORE and AFTER pictures, maybe there will be some consistency after a while. I am surprised the cushion is not more pronounced on the pro grill fixes.

Also, @daddy_o 's slip says nothing of the PCS Software Update that they did on mine <- this I'm pretty sure they did, well I saw the tech grab a laptop and enter the cab for a good while at least :notsure:
