Used if truck is right. I usually don't buy new.

I saved a great deal buying a used one and I'm very happy

That's depressing about your 2005, But I agree with you about the other stuff.

First used truck/car I have bought in 20 years, what I'm driving now... Last time I buy used.
I used carmax, took a month or so of looking. Found an MT 2.7 500 miles away. They went fast, all configurations, but as soon as I saw it they would hold it. You pay more not buying private.
... My truck may have bin drug out of a lake, salvaged... Who knows. If I can't fix it.. It's broken and I'll sell it and buy new.

I bought used. Only because I got a good deal from a family friend who is a sales manager at a dealership. Had I not gotten the deal, I would have went new. The new and used tacos are so close in price that it doesnt make sense to pay 1 or 2 grand less for something 3 or 4 years older with 50K or 60K miles. The asking price for my 2012 DCSB SR5 4.0L was 29,000. and I got it for 23,500. with only 38,000 miles on it.

808matt I can wholeheartedly see what BetStar mentioned. Put yourself in my shoes, or his (although I hate assuming anything). I've been a GMC guy for the past ten years and a Chevy guy before that. All I've ever heard over the years are "Toyotas are GREAT, you can't kill a Toyota, Toyoatas are indestructible". Well I finally decide that I'm going to spend my hard earned money, and venture in to the unknown leaving the security and comfort of the GM world where all my trucks never owed me a dime, they just drove and drove. Well I buy a 2015 Tocoma DCSB off road, love the looks of it, it has been driving great, I love MOST of the features. Still can't understand why it doesn't have other basic features, ex. Automatic headlights, heated mirrors for us up here in the Northeast. It is what it is, I'm very happy with my truck. That being written. I join Tacomaworld and I'm reading all theses problems owners are having with their trucks, after I've been hearing all this positive stuff over the years. I'm not worrying about issues that haven't happened to me me, but it sure has put Toyota in a different light to me. See what I'm (BetStar) are saying. No, no way am I going with Nissan BTW

I ended up buying used. 13 Sport DCSB 20,000 miles 26,000. For 6000 more I could of bought a new one but I know I could put 30,000 miles on it and there wouldn't be much of a change in value. 30,000 on a new one and it just depreciated 3-4,000.

If you read boards on any product it's usually about problems. That's the idea.

I had the same experience. Found one online and was sold when I got there. All of the used ones i looked at were mid-high 20s even with 80+K miles, so I bought new. Seemed crazy to buy used.

Dakota Red, I get that. That is just plane ole human nature, for the most part people will extend the energy to vent a problem, but not so much when they are happy. My point was I was just showing some support for BetStar, and explaining my situation
