How many video cameras record you every day? You will never get off the grid unless you go live in the woods.

Interesting choice of words for conditions to turn data over to government - not "warrant" but an "official" request. I am not a lawyer but that seems wrong to me. I don't mind that it records the data but it is my data and a warrant should be secured before asking me to turn it over to law enforcement.

Is this along the lines of manufacturers required to have “black box data recorders” in all new vehicles by a certain year? I heard chatter about this years ago...

They have data points, but they generally can't tell fault or event sequence.

So it would know your speed, how long before impact you were on the brakes, and how hard, etc.

It would know however if you backed into someone. So if you do, don't bother claiming they rear ended you.

If someone did rear end you it could tell if you contributed to it by something like brake checking them.

The really fun part will be when you insurance wants to check your files in your Hellcat. Or in your corner carver.

Does anyone know of an instance where insurance has asked for the data with or without owner consent? I still feel like if someone doesn’t accept fault via word, affidavit or what not, then both parties are at fault 50/50....the old school way. I’d be interested in knowing this because I would never lie if at fault but I can’t speak for other motorists, hence why a dash cam has been on the horizon for me for quite sometime.

It even says it transmits your data without your knowledge.

    Data erase tool = :bananadead:

Don’t forget to pull your computer before you let a wrecker take your taco after it’s totalled. What member was it that did that and got a call from the other insurance company asking about it?

Oh man, I gave up trying all that- my dash cam records and imprints GPS data on the video, including location and speed, my iPhone pings my location as does my anti-theft device, my Bluetooth GPS also records all that stuff too, not to mention the plate readers on our state freeway cameras and cop cars.

This is nothing new...after 1919 the only owner of a motor vehicle is the federal government. You lose ownership when you apply for a certificate of title...A certificate of title is a occupancy permit allows you to occupy and possess the vehicle as a tenant and grants you the equity rights and liability to a motor vehicle. The “equity rights and liability is what you buy, sell and trade not ownership that stays with the government which is why the spying is legal...you don’t own your vehicle your just a tenant!
