Had my new Tacoma for a few weeks. Overall, I like it a lot. However, I didn't notice these defects until I got home. The truck is back in the shop getting these issues addressed.

Paint defect under the driver's side window. The second is a misaligned rear bumper (common)20170102_152849.jpg20170102_152744.jpg20170102_153001.jpg 20170102_153007.jpg

Wow! The bumper should be an easy fix but that paint defect not so.At least white is one of the easier colors to repaint and blend in but I would demand perfection.
Hard to believe that got through all the way to you before it got noticed.

Double check and make sure the Bed itself is not also Crooked to go with that Bumper, there seems to be many that look like they have just been slapped on and bolted down.

What is wrong with the bumper? Should it be flush? Or...?

That's a massive paint defect. Was your Taco made in Texas or Mexico?

Look at the pic and you will see the gap is different on each side, that's why I also mentioned for him to make sure the bed is not crooked too.

That sucks! If it really came like that I would go back to the stealership but good luck with that.

Yeah, it does suck. It's back with the dealer (Titus Will in Tacoma, WA) right now. They are sending it to a body shop for painting. Once I pointed out the bumper issue, they checked the lot and found several other Tacomas with the same issue, although to variable degrees. I'll check the bed alignment as well.

That's what a lot of people think, but it's actually one of the hardest to blend.

That sucks. Make sure you get a lifetime warranty on the paint repair. I'd also want to make sure that they fix the paint defect and then re-clear the whole door. If it's a decent body shop, they will do it right. You don't want them to "spot" a brand new truck. It will always catch your eye.

I don't think that white has a clear coat.

My bed is out over a half an inch left to right at the cab. My bumper seems to line up though.

Are the Tundras built in TX as well? Do they have the same quality issues?

Same principal with single stage paint. Shoot the whole panel rather than spot paint.

The owner of a local body shop who does all of my work. He's been in the industry for over 30 years. He basically said white is one of the hardest colors to match, especially on older vehicles. There's so many variants of the color.
