As you can see by my avatar, I'm a fan. I have 4...

    Model 26
Model 27 (my primary concealed carry)
    Model 22
    Model 17

I have not had the opportunity to shoot the new Gen 4 yet, but I've heard some mixed opinions as well. I'm on the lookout for a pre owned 21 Gen 3. I may be able to find one at a gun show.

I've got an older 23 and love it. My dad has a 27 and loves it. I dont think you can go wrong with any of them. The funnest glock I've ever shot, was the 18. That was a good time.

Have a first generation Glock 19. Indescructible. Was my service gun for over 15 years with NYPD. Thousands of rounds and never a malfunction. It's banged up pretty good. Also good for hitting someone upside the head(LOL).

I looked at a 3rd and the 4th generation Glock 19 this weekend. The 4th generation felt better in my hand. Both are very nice guns.

I think I'm one of the few who still carries a 17 (9MM) as a service weapon. But I'm totally comfortable with it. Plus it holds more bullets =)

Hopefully taking a NRA training class on handguns this coming January! I'd like to learn a lot more about using them efficiently if that makes any sense.

    Steve,

Its all about personal preference. Different guns feel different for different people. I am not just talking out of my ass and by no means I am inexperienced shooter. I have shot many handguns and many rifles. My most favorite was Kimber .45 model 1911, amazing pistol, my least favorite were full size Glocks .40 and .45 caliber. I don't like the Glocks because they have "snappy" recoil and are hard to keep pointed on target. I would choose my Taurus 24/7 Pro .40 caliber over Glock any day. The Taurus feels way better when fired. The other issue with Glocks I have is the "safety" they have. The only real safety they have is trigger mounted. I prefer traditional thumb safety on my guns.

To be honest in terms of reliability and fun to shoot factor S&W .357 magnum with 6" barrel was my favorite. I put about 1500+ rounds through it, not one misfire or malfunction! In terms of handling, I would choose the S&W .357 over Glock any day. Yes it holds only 6 bullets, BUT .357 caliber packs a very decent punch and lets face it, its all about placement not volume when it comes into sticky situation. My next gun will be Taurus TCP in .380, small gun I can put in my pocket and carry it every day.

Its just my opinion. All and all Glock is a good design, simple and functional, no wonder many law enforcement agencies choose Glocks.

I have had a Glock 17 for 13 yrs and many guns have come and gone but I still love my 17. It's pretty banged up but I love it.

Glock 22 (.40) owner here. It was my first gun. I really like it. As some have pointed out, Glocks seem to be a love/hate gun. I CCW my 22 when I'm home in WV or out in any other state where my WV permit is valid, but I've been eyeing a G27 for some time now.

    I haven't shot or held the G23. So no opinion really. But I feel if i can carry a 23, I can carry a 22. But I'd rather be carrying a 27.

Also, as someone else pointed out, the Glock .40 is pretty snappy! it does take some getting used to, but as I've already said, I really like mine.

My Glock. I love it, 8 mis-fires out of 2000+ rounds due to bad ammo, sold that box to a guy in the range and never bought it again and it never jammed again. It's put down hogs and a coyote charging my friends and I saving us from bodily harm or death. I love it.
Edit 2: G22 .40 cal not sure what gen but it's right around 5 years old.

Yup. Gen 2. Gen 3 would have finger grooves on the grip.

I think that's a first gen. As I recall, Gen2's had finger grooves but no rail. Gen3 has the rail and finger grooves.

Glock 23 owner and carrier here. Awesome gun, love the size for duty and concealment. Very snappy recoil makes .40 harder to master then 9 or 45. Glock's are different in their own right. Ever since This became my primary gun I can no longer shoot my 1911 effectively. The grip angle and trigger are very unique.

I shot a Taurus .40 and did not like it. Liked my G22 better. Most stove pipe issues are poor grip on the gun with the Glock. And the brass to the face issue has been resolved by Glock. You get a new extractor. Right now the only way to get the new extractor is to send your pistol to Glock. They are great guns for the price. I mean of course you can find a better gun, but for $500 you cant go wrong with the Glock for Home Defense or Carry. I have a G22 and G27 and love them.
