New member and first post. I just picked up my first Tacoma (2022 TRD Off-Road) a few days ago and was told by the dealer it has remote start. I've tried both fob's with multiple attempts and all combinations by pushing 2, 3, 4... after reading some info here an online.

My truck has the Technology Package but can someone who knows more then me confirm it should have remote start.

Would like to know it does for sure before I bring it back to the dealer.

    Thanks

The truck is locked to start with and the lock function appears to work each time I press the button. At least the headlights do flash each time I press the button.

just to be clear, don't you have to hold it for a few seconds on the last press? wasn't clear in your description of what you've tried.

No just lock it 4 times if it does not work you might have to pay a subscription from Toyota to use it or install an aftermarket one I recommend n2 design,s

Yeah, the video directly below your post shows how I've always thought it was done. You hold the button on the last press. I don't have this, I have a 2nd gen, but the press multiple times, then hold, is how I've always read it online.

That's how the factory remote start is. N2, Viper, Compustar all have different sequences though.

I have a 21, I usually push the lock button three times, however not to fast make sure that you hear the beep and press it again within a second of hearing it and on the 3rd press hold the lock button until the lights flash, then you can release and your truck should start.

I did watch a couple of videos and had the Toyota instructions as well. Mine does not seem to work no matter what combination I use and yes I am holding the button down on the third push. I even tried 2, 4 and 5 pushes to as well. Nothing works. I was just curious if maybe my vehicle does not actually have it but from everything I've read it should.

To the dealer we go. Thanks!

Before you go to the dealer, make sure you have downloaded the toyota app and registered your truck. Some people have had to "opt in" to certain things with their VIN before the remote start has worked after the one year trial period of the remote connect features of the new vehicle.

I can use the key fob (3 presses), or phone app - all with the Drone Mobile aftermarket unit. I highly recommend it...

Your sequence speed is not correct. If the vehicle locks every time you press the lock button, you are waiting too long for the next time you are pressing the lock button. The time between the clicks is around one second. Too fast it does not work, too slow also not.

Pay the 80.00 annual subscription for remote connect problem solved and you will also be able to remote start your truck from the Toyota app.

My ‘23 had this feature when I bought it. About 8-9 months in it quit working and I had to use the Toyota app and had to subscribe, for free, to the Toyota services. About 5 minutes later my fob remote start worked again.

You don't have to pay for the fob remote start on the fob
