I was driving home from work just about a month ago and saw my dream truck sitting in the front of a Buick/GMC dealer- a 2010 Tacoma V6 4x4 TRD Sport. Only had 40k miles and the price was a little below what I had been seeing on autotrader for the past few months. I drove my little 00 Subaru RS 2.5 with 145k miles into the lot and drove the Tacoma out 3 hours later. I even got $1000 for the Subie even though she needed 4 tires, brakes and rear wheel bearings to pass inspection in September.

The truck's previous owner was an older guy who did absolutely nothing to it. The carfax showed one A/C blower motor squeak service but everything else was oil changes and normal service. It was pretty much bone stock and ready to be played with. Ordered Weathertechs the first night. Drove into Philly a couple nights later to see a buddy and came out to this:

Thanks Philly! $2500+ dollars worth of damage in probably 5 minutes. First they tried to punch the drivers side lock and lift the rod like it was a 1980 Chevy. When that didnt work, they went to the passenger side and tried to pry the window off, bending the metal in the doorframe. Then, finally, they gave up and just smashed the passenger window. Thankfully they ignored the $400 fishing setup in the front seat and made off with all of 50 cents. The insurance company was cool, got the glass fixed next day and the adjuster wasn't too stingy with his estimate. Dropping it at the body shop Monday night because I'm off next week and they estimated 3 days for all the work.

In the meantime I've been trying to figure out how to mount my 14 foot Native Manta Ray fishing yak on this thing. Got a good deal on a used Thule goalpost and picked up some cheapo universal mounts for the cab. After some slight modifications she's ready to go.

Today, I bought a boat. It's a 16 ft Starcraft Aluminum semi v in great shape. Also got 25hp and 9.9hp Mercury outboards and bow and transom trolling motors. Looking forward to fall, winter and springtime fishing in this thing and thankfully its still warm enough to do a little work on this thing. Spring striper season in the Chesapeake/Susky is the main reason I got this thing. Kayaking was getting a little too gamey.

This website has been awesome and I've gotten a lot of ideas from stuff I've seen on here. I'm just trying to resist doing too much more to this truck to keep the mpg's respectable for now. This is my first truck and I just don't know how I made it all these years driving my little Subarus. I was so glad I test drove a Colorado, F150 and even an FJ before I got in my Tacoma because there is just no comparison. The F150 was the only one to come close but that thing was too much truck for me.
