I may be mistaken but I think that is the USB. I bought an adapter that connected that cable to to the radio. (Using the USB to USB mini adapter that pioneer included). The black wire with black connector from the truck is Sirius antenna.

That's what I figured. Oh well, I don't use SiriusXM. Just not worth it for how little I really drive on a day-to-day basis. I do wish they would do a "road trip" account... I would pay a few bucks for a couple weeks of service while I'm on a road trip. Oh well. I'll futz around with the Google YouTube Music premium and see what I can get out of that.

Bishop is correct and I was wrong. That grey one you have unplugged is for the factory USB connection not the XM tuner.

Ahh.. Oh well, I never use the USB port... I bought a right angle and male to female USB C cable and connector so I can connect a USB C cable to my phone. It works great and charges the phone... probably not quite as fast as an 18W USB C power adapter I had in the truck previously. I can live without the old USB port in the truck not working.

Do you have to add apps to the unit? I can’t find the stock navigation anywhere.

There is no stock navigation. You use the navigation via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Gotcha. Thought I remembered someone saying they used it. They may have had an 8600 or something.

    What is 'meh':
Registration via the shitty app doesn't work for me. I connect to the phone's hotspot, then try to connect, and it complains every time. I'm on iPhone Xr on iOS 13.6. Any help that would be appreciated.

I have tapped the VSS from the 28 pin and the parking brake in what feels like a really hacky solution for being a $1000 setup. If I don't start the truck up, just leave ACC on, it complains - but I think the error is gone when I start it up and drive.

    What is good:
The screen, the speed, etc. Carplay is great. It still has all the OEM 'stuff' you'd expect. Sound is pretty big. For sure I can tell there is extra power.

I used post 951 by daveeasa to eyeball the bracket drilling - and it is MONEY. Mine is totally flush. It's more art than science - and I'm no artist - but his post is friggin' GOLD.

    To do:
I did the Kicker upgrade too, including the tweeters, and the sound is really bright and very treble/high and not in a good way. I'm getting some passive crossovers to stick in the doors - but I should probably do some work in the EQ, too.

    Bottom line:
For 2016-2019 this is a phenomenal upgrade. If I had a 2020 with AA/CP I might do speakers and call it a day. I don't know how the JBL speakers sound (I am a manual transmission lunatic - no JBL available for the OR MT) but if they are marginally better than the non-JBL they are probably fine (for my ears, anyway).

Hey, thanks buddy! Glad my post could help some. I think the pictures I posted actually show the brackets mounted to the 3rd screw hole rather than the 4th, I know I had to drill twice for the rear-most one. I went to test fit and it was sunken a bit too far back in the dash, had to go and drill again. I actually don't yet have mine installed, need to solder up my harness and wanted to do some fancy 3m heat shrink and a pac tr4 all of which has since arrived.

I'll update my post to be explicit about the 3rd vs 4th hole and try to get some revised photos tonight, I realized the photos were taken before my adjustments after I posted.

Ha! Now that you mention it - I would have guessed it at the time. It was sitting further back but I chalked that to my dumb-assery with this stuff. I pulled it out, remounted one set of holes back and it is spot on. Good call on the update - it will probably help out others like me.

I soldered my harness, too. It was a glorious project for a beautiful Saturday in the garage at the workbench.

Now if I could get the damn thing to 'register' I'd be a super happy camper...but even without registration, it works great. And I'll probably only ever use AA/CP on it.

    CHEERS!

I haven't done this yet but I remember reading something about how you need to be connected to wifi to do one of the steps which maybe was the registration step?

EDIT: As in connect from the Pioneer directly to your home wifi while parked, assuming that is possible, probably not everyone parks within range of their home wifi but maybe you have a friend you can use for this as it's a one time deal?

Yeah - I park close enough to get the longer range (2.4ghz) wifi connected. I'll try that out this afternoon and report back.

No joy on registration still. Following directions found here:
    Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX Information Thread

I know I can connect it to my wifi, but then I can't use the (cr)app to update things like wallpaper, etc.

Side note - the menus on this thing aren't great. I have an Alpine head-unit I just did in my 'toy' car. Incidentally those menus are similarly bad, too.

So far the upgrade itself is taking a lot more time than a 'plug and play' install - but the time spent should be worth it once I get it close to how I want it.

Definitely adjust your EQ bands. I thought the same thing about the kicker speakers at first. Very treble high. But once you get the EQ dialed in, it’s perfect.

Good advice - and I started adjusting today by pulling back the high end while blasting Enter Sandman - lots of highs (cymbals) and plenty of low end bass. I've got it pretty close, I think.

Sorry for the blurry picture and it isn’t the new pioneer unit. But this is how I’ve always set my EQ for metal. I like to really feel the kick drum and low guitar notes. There are a few bands on the 6600 not pictured here, but just bump them up 2-4 db.

Isn't it funny how everyone's listening experience is different? That would be way too much mid for me and not enough highs. My bass is set very low on my eq, almost zero for the first couple bars, and my subwoofer amplifier is tuned using its own lowpass crossover. This way I keep all of the bass out of the door speakers. Enables them to crank much louder without distortion.

Ha! Indeed - mine is lower on the highs (-2, to -6), and a bass is at 0. No sub, no amp. Just the kicker speakers in the front (tweeters, too), rear and a buttload of sound insulation in all 4 doors.

One thing I do miss on the Entune was having different equalizer settings depending on the source (different for radio, Sirius, podcasts, etc). Is there and option like this on the Pioneer?
