Was hoping but the screen is too far away. Have to use a mouse to interface. Thats why I was hoping it would work.

Ah wow, that looks like a fun car. If you still have that HU I’m sure you can get a good price for it.

I have a galaxy s20+ (on Android 10), and had everything working for several months, and recently I started having the same problems you are describing. After scouring the internet for hours for a fix, here's what I did to fix it:
Go to: Settings -> connections -> wifi ->3 dots (top right) -> advanced
Make sure "switch to mobile data whenever your wifi internet connect is slow or unstable" is enabled. Click on it and a option for "network exceptions" should come up. Make sure your head unit is not listed.

Thank you for that, my headunit was listed under "network exceptions".

I removed it, so now all my apps should use my mobile data?

Yep. Give it a try, let me know if it works! It's really strange that this has become a fairly widespread problem and not much documentation exists on it.

To provide another perspective, I came from a W4500NEX. The capacitive screen on this unit is a game changer. Viewing angle and brightness is amazing. The screen is also snappier. I’m fully satisfied compared to previous head units I’ve used. Mainly stayed in the pioneer ecosystem so I can’t speak on other brands.

I’m working on perfecting a T harness to inject head unit or amp speaker output to the factory harness. Because, I dunno, fun?

Is anybody having an issue where CarPlay will start automatically, but the cluster will not populate with song information until I switch to the radio and back? It will start up on CarPlay but will stay blank even if music starts.

Will the touch screen still work if you're wearing gloves? (It will be -35 C in a few weeks where I am)

Alright hoping someone has had the same issues as me. Install is finished, everything looks great and the unit im loving so far. EXCEPT...when im connected to the headunit via android auto my note 20 5g ultra whatever does not allow data. The wifi symbol flashes and says 'connected without internet'. I have tried looking to see if its in the network exceptions list in advanced wifi settings, it is not.

Seems to be very little info on this. Looked through about half the posts on this thread with no luck so apologies if this has been asked already.

Kind of a bummer to have android auto but not be able to use data while im connected to it...

... as long as you are wearing gloves that have touch conductive pads or threads in them yes. If it is a standard leather driving glove, probably not.

Assuming you followed my steps above and still have the issue...

    Some initial thoughts:
    • Does Android Auto appear on your HU but unable to actually load anything? If not, try deleting the head unit from the Android Auto settings, delete the wifi network, delete the bluetooth connection, and try to setup everything again. Delete these connections on the head unit as well.
    • Android Auto doesn't have permissions to control your wifi: Check this by looking at "Wi-Fi control history"
    • Vpn is turned on -> Wireless android auto isn't compatible with a vpn
    • I've also noticed that I get strange interactions when my headunit and phone are both in range of my home internet. To remedy this, drive outside of your home wifi range (at least a few hundred feet away).
    • Do you have a second phone you could try to setup that supports wireless android auto?
Edit: Which version of Android are you running? Include the "Android Security Patch level" date as well.

No problem, really easy to sew a blob of conductive thread on the end of one finger. Thanks!

I have a quote for $1650 for supply/install. They are proposing an "Access" steering wheel interface instead of the Maestro one. I have not seen anything about that interface so I haven't engaged them, don't want any issues.

They are also saying that they need a voltage converter for the rear camera?

I think I read somewhere that the "Access" box will maintain your steering wheel controls, but nothing gives you nothing else. In other words, if you want some of the bells & whistles on the head unit (like tire pressures, door ajars, etc), you would be better off with the Maestro.

    Rollin' hydrocarbons!
I've read/heard the same thing. I'd spend the money for the Maestro. Probably the most important thing is you retain the customization settings that are in the OEM head unit. The Access unit solely does steering wheel buttons.

As far as the rear camera: I'm on my third head unit and haven't had the need for a voltage converter. I do know that at times it *may* be needed, but I've had two Pioneer headunits and an Android unit and none of them have needed the converter as long as you're using a CAN-BUS translator deal (Maestro, etc.).

I keep reading people saying you need to splice your rca cables to the pioneer harness. This may be a dumb question but which rca cables need to be splice? And to which wires in the pioneer harness do they need to be spliced to?

The wiring of the maestro T01 harness call for you to cut the T01 L/R Front speaker RCA connectors and wire them into the Pioneer harness.
