Those things aren’t mutually exclusive and I don’t make up the weather. From highs in the 80’s to lows in the 30’s.

Any of you guys have expertise with removing valve stems? I got some fancy Colby valves yesterday but I need a way to get the old rubber ones out-preferably without taking off the tire or unseating it. Suggestions?

I've seen it snipped with a Dikes but you'd end up with a piece of rubber in there ! Like @CygnusX191 said you'll have to take the rubber off. Most people do that when they mount new rubber!

I’m sticking to the rivers and lakes that I’m used to but that’s only because I know them all. Some have prickly bushes in the shore, I don’t want those scrubs. Gotta creep, creep around those. And if hiking at night make sure your headlamp has the special red light mode.

Just got back from Moab. A quick run down.
Saturday, day one we did Shiner Pass and McAllistor Gulch trails. Shiner Pass starts at the bottom of exit 190 on I-70 in Colorado. It isn't much more than a fire road. McAllistor Gulch is where the fun starts. Nothing real technical but it is pretty steep through the trees. We lucked out getting a campsite Sat. night. Found the only 2 open sites, and they were reserved for Friday and Saturday night, but nobody was home, so we took advantage of the situation. (it was getting dark fast) Got down to 28*. We were packed for Moab. Brrr.

Sunday was the scenic route on Monarch Pass road. It's a steep fire road that crosses the continental divide. Spent the night on a guys property that he built 5 campsites. Was getting dark and we needed a site sooner than later. It worked.
Monday we took Gemini Bridges Trail to the Horsetheif campground. After camp was set up, we went down Long Canyon, which is only 10 mins. from camp.
Tues. we were off to Arches Nat'l Park. 'nuff said.

Thursday we did the Shafer Trail through Canyonlands NP. The launching pad for the movies climax in "Thelma and Louise" is on this trail. We weren't actively looking for the launch pad, but you cannot miss it. It looks like the main trail. My buddy was driving as we approached so I could do some sight-seeing. I noticed that the canyon edge on both sides of the road were quickly getting really close. I told him to stop, that something was......"off". We were at a small dip in the road with a small rise about 40 feet in front of us. I walked up to rise and beyond it was certain death. No signage or barricades of any kind to warn of the literal "dead end". The road simply ended. The main trail was a fishhook turn 200 yds back.(we saw it but would be easy to miss if you were looking at the scenery instead of the road)
The drive up the switchbacks to Canyonlands is the coolest drive I have ever done. If you do go to Moab, DO NOT MISS THIS DRIVE. (unless you're afraid of heights) It's a shelf road the plummets (+ -) 1200' from the top. You can see the ride on Trail Maters you-tube vid from 3 days ago. We liked the view so well, we hung out along the road taking in the sights for a couple of hours Thurs. and Fri at dusk.
Having "Kasmir" at full volume with a nice buzz on that road made things seem surreal. We drove the shelf part of the road 5 times in 2 days. Maybe 25 mins to the bottom. It truly is a must see.
How we missed this trail in March is beyond me. Oh, yeah. It's not in the Funtreks guide.

I swear I have seen a tool that threads on to the valve stem and levers those things out from the outside... Must be an old tool. Cannot seem to find one via Google.

Unless your TPMS can fit through the little hole which I've yet to see when they can, you'll have to break the bead and fit it from underneath. I'm sure someone somewhere has a trick for getting just the rubber stems in from the outside. If you don't need a TPMS sensor, which case, that's freaking awesome

Don't have that TPMS monkey business. Have a light on the dash that I have trained myself to ignore to prove it. There are kits out there... just wondering if anyone here had something that could help. I would make a tool, but those threads for the valve require a spendy Die... cheaper to buy one (or two) of the kits. I'll figure something out, not worried.

I’m going out on a limb here, but I’m guessing that “worried” is one thing you’ve never been.

I know what you're talking about, I think I may have one... somewhere... The problem remains having to pull the new stem through from the inside, I don't see any way around that.
