Just replaced p/s pump with remain I also replaced the rack since it sprung a leak on the rack. New (aae) rack with pump, started it up sounded fine added more fluid not over filling. After several minutes started whining just like the old one. The truck is up stands and it doesn't feel like there's power steering. Any ideas please.

did you bleed the system properly? Did you fill the reservoir with the wheel centered? sounds like you just have air in the lines

I'm sure I did, atleast I did what the Haynes manual instructed. I actually had someone start the truck so I could be right there to add fluid I knew there was some air in the line.

Did you re-use the old reservoir? The internal screen could be clogged, and causing the noise.

You used the right fluid, right? Can you describe how you bled it?

I used atf, picked up some Castro brand for foreign vehicles, meets dex III. I cleaned and cleaned the resivoir, used a small light to see inside and yes the screen was clean. I replaced the rack at the same time, the rack had fluid already in it so I figured it was just the lines that had air. Had someone start it up and poured more fluid in as it went down. Sounded fine at first after couple minutes it instantly started whining.

Traded the pump in today for another one, cardone reman. Something else to add, when I got the first one the mounting bolt holes did not line up,there are 3 holes I only need 2. It was a bitch getting In to place, the pump I picked up today is the same way only 1 bolt hole lines up this time. Is cardone crap? I'm looking for a new one.

my screen seems to be clean yet ive read some post where people tear the screen out. Would one of those inline magnetic filters on cardones website be a good option? Also looked into a brand new pump, found one for $20.00 more than what i paid for the cardone the plus side it it comes with resivoir.
