Looks like the 2023 DC models have a tow rating of 6,400 - 6,700 lbs. It's awfully small print. lol

If your v6 2015 is struggling, a 23 v6 isn’t going to be any better

yeah, I defiantly wouldn't purchase a new tow vehicle that isn't at least rated for 50% more than I intend to tow far and/or often. If it was a few times a year pulling a trailer across town, and I felt confident with my trailer brake setup, that's one thing.
Another thing to consider (and often overlooked) is the resistance many TT's can create, that is not in the weight ratings, but takes tons of HP to overcome.

Yes that's what I am talking about, I thought It was 6500-(6300 4wd) the camper is rated at 4500 lbs. Why don't I just buy a Tundra. Simple I usually pay cash for my vehicle's and its a Lot more money for towing a few times a year.

I went from an 18 to a 23. I saw what the 24s were going to be - and just wanted a newer version of my 18 - which I loved. The 23 has a few updates - LED headlights, CarPlay - and I got 4WD over my 18
    s @WD - I'm very happy with the move.

If the only reason you are considering trading your 2nd gen for a 3rd gen is towing....keep the 2nd gen....

For what its worth and may not be relevant but my 2021 SR5 V6 6spd MANUAL 4X4 towed my 18' Four Winns 4cyl bow rider - BUT just barely. I hated it - as a matter of fact I traded it for an automatic for this very reason. Reverse was geared WAY too high to back up with the boat attached. I believe the boat and trailer weighed about 3500#. Auto pulls it but it shifts a ton when there is anything even resembling an incline. In my opinion the truck is not made to tow anything other than a utility trailer with light loads.

They buy them for 37k new drive for 6 months and trade for 39k. Now the question is who is this secondary buyer willing to spend over sticker like an absolute buffoon

    2015 4.0 = 236hp and 266 torque. Peak torque @ 4k rpm. 0-60 7.7
    2023 3.5 = 278hp and 265 torque. Peak torque @ 4600 rpm. 0-60 7.7

Where is this better performance you're referring to?

With those numbers, dunno why they didn't just stick with the 4.0L and the A750F. The HP increase on the 3.5 contributes nothing except it looks better on paper and in the TV ads and I think increased the EPA gas mileage rating by 1.5 mpg (I guess that's something) and the AT they decided to drop in drove everyone out of their minds for about the first five years.

Found me a '23 TRD Pro in black with 1864 miles last month that was traded in for a TRX (the guy had coin for sure to trade a taco for some $130k truck). Glad I found one of the only 4 within 500 miles at that point with the least miles. It was literally just 2 months old before he realized he needed something fancier. I've always wanted a Tacoma ... glad to have joined the gang.

I’ve towed multiple times and my tach never went over 4K while driving through mountain passes. Just saying.

3500 max is what my motor needs to haul a trailer uphill.

Your wording implies that you think the 2023 would have a higher tow capacity than your 2015. It’s the same.

Yes R sucks but 2WD LOW mod solves this issue. I use it all the time, lifesaver.

As far as a trailer weight goes, I wouldn’t wanna tow more than 4500 with my taco.

I use a single axle for work, it’s about 2.5k or so loaded with tools and such. Perfectly fine to tow constantly. If I was towing 4K plus regularly, I would have got a full size.

Excuse me, it’s a Camry/minivan/car motor. It’s 3 in one so that’s better than “just a truck” motor.

    It’s just simple math.:)
