I know this car! Lithia of Springfield, right? I almost bought it but couldn't do the road trip so I passed on it. They were selling it at invoice. Keith Moreck was very nice to deal with. Congrats and enjoy!

Ps. The is/was a 2018 white one available for $44k at Vacaville Toyota. Honestly PRO looks way better in Cavalry Blue than in White. I know the color is subjective but to me, in white it looks like a regular work truck, IMO.

Yes that is the one. It was a long drive, but worth it for sure. Really surprised it sat on their lot for 3 months.

Speaking of snow, how is it during a snowfall? Are you worried about snow getting into it?

You turn the head around and leave it like that all winter. There is also a drain a few inches below the head so any liquid that goes into the intake should get out before it reaches the engine.

Now I don't know if I had a bad part or something, but the two screw holes on the head are exactly into the plastic weld and one of them snapped a couple days after I turned it, I suspect because of cold and vibration and maybe because I tightened the screw a bit much as it was stiff to screw (hole too small?). It's on warranty claim now.

Wouldn't turning the head disrupt the flow of air to the intake? Sorry not trying to be rude, I have a pro on order with the 'snorkel' so just tying to understand it better before toying with it myself.

No need to apologize, I'm happy to answer any question. I don't think airflow matter much, after all the intake is normally in your passanger wheel well. Anyway it's recommended to turn it around, it's even written on a sticker on the door.

I personnaly think the snorkel looks better turned around lol

Seems like it would look better on the PRO if the intake was turned backwards due to the angles and lines of the truck

It does, sadly I don't have any picture as I'm away for work for a while, I'll try to have someone take a picture for me.

So I've been shopping for a Pro now for at least a month and /half... I'm simply looking for a stock Black one, no snorkel. I can't tell you how difficult it is for these dealers to find one and I live in the DC Metro area where there are Toyota dealers on every block. That said however, when I do find one the dealer gives me the ahole price on it (close to 50k) and I'm simply not paying that much. There are voodoo blue's and white with the snorkel going for 45.5-46.5k around me, I just prefer black without that thing... it's a bit overkill for my tastes.

Sadly, to get what you want regarding the Trd Pros. You’re going to have to order. I’ve been waiting since August. Delivery is finally next week, and no snorkel :)

This is why I bagged the 2019 and purchased a new 2018 Pro instead.

How do you like the snorkel. Don’t have the pro but I did order the safari and plan on having @Speedfreak install it. How does it sound from the inside. I’ll be doing desert camping with my buddies and I want to minimize dust inside the engine. Thanks.

After having a good look up close at the dealership on a new Pro, it doesnt look like the snorkel would be very good in colder climates. Not so much about snow getting in but the plastic head being really brittle in subzero temps. It looks like the top is connected by just a couple of metal set-screws. Almost looks like something you want only in warm climates and to remove for safekeeping in the winter.

That's my perception after looking at it, not any actual experience with a snorkle.

There is no noticeable wind noise from the inside.

The plastic snapped at the weld directly where the screw is so you're right. Tried to explained that to the dealer and have the snorkel removed on warranty claim but they didn't want to because warranty cover what the truck came out of the factory.

Yea, basically I have to order it. Going in tomorrow to give them a $500 deposit, will take about a month but I'm in no rush as long as I get the snorkle'less edition. Paying $45.5 + tax, tags, processing fyi.

It sure looks like the birdcage is an obstruction.
I never had a problem with snow or ice.

I think having it swept back is a much better looking and cleaner design, and less likely to get bushwhacked.....

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
Op, I would reccommned forgoing the facty desert air intake, think about it for awhile, and if you feel the need for one, buy an ARB or dobinson (I have an arb myself).

They dont look anywhere near as bad as the factory one
