Make sure you read the frame replacement threads and understand where you will stand if you buy this. Three owners in Maine? What’s the likelihood hood all three did what is necessary to not have the frame fail?

Not to be a pessimist, but either the frame has already been replaced or it will need to be - likely at your expense. Pictures of the undercarriage probably not sufficient. Crawling under there with a hammer and wailing on shit is probably what is necessary.

But there are plenty more people on here with vastly more experience with this than me! So don’t let me talk you out of it, but let me at least warn you to find people on here that do know what they are talking about. Check the frame replacement threads to find said people.

Good luck in your search! Hope this proves to be the one despite doubts!

Yea sooooo… the verdict is in. Frame, rear diff, leaf springs, suspension components were too crusty for my liking. a buddy of mine went to check it out for me, plus the sales rep sent me some flicks. Of course he didn’t send the worst stuff, however you can still see what’s learking. Carfax doesn’t say anything about a recall or frame maintenance… I called Toyota to make sure their wasn’t a frame recall open. Im wondering is I should keep trying for a second gen. At these prices with these frames.. man it’s discouraging.:(870D73F9-FD09-444B-844A-B9122D04A263.jpgDB557B02-6E5A-452D-8151-920137F15263.jpg359C90EF-DE5C-4BDD-B84F-C131C920E332.jpg

2nd gen Tacomas that are in rust belt states have an extended frame warranty for 12 years from the first date the truck was registered.

Is that right? So how would I go about that? Because apparently the truck was inspected buy Toyota. The truck had just arrived from Toyota when my buddy came to check it out, to see if it was fit for sale.

Basically, they only get replaced if there is a hole found in the frame. The frame could be crusty as hell but if there is no hole then toyota says its safe.

Yeah I would pass on that.
Don’t get too discouraged, you will find one with great bones (frame).

It took me about 2 months to find a good looking taco with limited/no frame rust.
